Can someone please tell me what a dribble drive is? I mean you cannot “drive” without “dribbling” so what am I missing?
Also, what does “scoring the basketball” really mean? You cannot “score” without the “basketball” so why isn’t it just “score”?
And for Pete's sake getting "untracked" is a coddam disaster, not something to strive for!

Did everyone fail ferroequinology?!?!?!?!?

Just stupid announcer terms.

I hate "scoring the basketball".

I really hate "three-ball". Don't know why - I just do.

How do you feel about "trey?"

I always interpret "scoring the basketball," to mean the guy may not have the purest shot or be able to regularly beat his guy off the dribble, but he just finds ways to score - often in traffic, adjusting his shot as needed, etc. Where as a scorer is a guy who just has those pure offensive skills.

Why is the university of Kansas KU? And why is university of Oklahoma OU? That’s completely wrong and yet that’s what people call them

Because Kentucky called dibs on UK, and Oregon wanted UO.

I’ll also add - “golf shot”.

As in, “that’s a fine golf shot!”

Well, duh!!
(s)he is playing golf, on a golf course, and hit a golf ball with a golf club.
You don’t need to specify the type of sport that shot was.

And a minor pet peeve - golfers calling a course a “track”.

Oh, did you ever play XYZ course?
Yeah, that’s a great track.

Oh really?
I don’t see a track anywhere.
No horses or humans running.
No railroad.

Where did “free throw” come from? I get that it’s “free” as in uncontested, but players don’t throw the basketball at the rim.

Layup makes sense, Dunk makes sense; jump shot makes sense. Let’s mess around and call it a free “throw”.

Right? Or "that's a great football play!" Which would be significant if I were watching a baseball game, but if I'm watching the Rams play the Ravens, I have a feeling I know what sport I'm watching.
