Seth Davis Just Said On TruTV...

"The NCAA went back and looked at his schoolwork," one source told CBSSports.com. "They are looking into the fact that he didn't do some of the work."

That statement, if true, is not good. Not just for Melo but SU in general.

Shocking.;)

So is this leading to a "lack of institutional control" type issue where the university was lax in monitoring his work and in allowing him to play before?

Since we're speculating. What if the U caught bad boy doing something wrong. If it was bad enough to warrant dismissal, wouldn't you expect JB to maintain the integrity of the program and let Fab go? Cronin did it with Gates after the fight. We are all assuming that JB didn't agree with the decision. Maybe that's wrong.

Not sure what any of this means, but Cronin didn't do anything with Gates after the fight. He should have been kicked off the team.

It would be the best if after our loss in Elite 8 and after the tournament is over, NCAA declares that after reviewing the concern that his work was not his, it came to the conclusion that no violations happened and Fab is cleared to play.

them for doing this right before a tourney. s.

I say let Fab play. If the NCAA strips us of a title after the fact who gives an ?

IMO that means JB is gone (will leave) unless the decision involves some significant new development.

Agree! If it is academics, SU was not required to take action at this point. Su would be doing it for political correctness. JB probably has zero say now and is fuming. I agree, if it academics JB is gone!

You're right. Last time I looked Gates had his fat butt planted firmly in the lane at the Garden pushing CJ out of the way to get offensive rebounds against us. Oh maybe he means back in December. I'm glad Cronin took a stand.

From the amateur board, FWIW.

Heard that Fab was guilty of plagarism...Professor caught it and pushed for Fab to be suspended. All had to do with what went down in January. NCAA didn't force it on Cuse...they suspended him on their own when the Prof pushed them.
If that is the case...I hate to say it...but who is looking for plagarism? Calipari is buying guys cars, and Fab goes down because of copying a paper? Not that it's right, but do you know how many kids copy papers? Ever know a guy in a Frat? Those guys recycle term papers like soda bottles.

So what changed ?

Plagiarism, who cares about plagiarism.

Anyway, fwiw I heard that a professor caught noticed Fab had plagiarized and pushed for Fab to be suspended removed from the team. It all had to do with what occurred back in January. The NCAA did not force it on Cuse ultimately make the decision...they suspended him on their own when the douchebag basketball hating Professor pushed them. :)

all do respect with your theory, What changed ?

well, we are an academic institution. And I would think that you know, plagiarism is kind of bad.

I dont get it. Why is Fab ineligible now after everything. If plagerism was the cause

the NCAA involvement seems odd to me. if its academics other than high school eligibilty im not sure why they would be involved. if he flunked some tests, or plagerized or cheated or something like that then it's a university matter.

You either meet certain gpa eligibility requirements or you don't and the NCAA doesn't monitor athletes grades to the extent of who's doing the work. the gpa thing is pretty cut and dry.

if someone else did the work than that's an ncaa matter and a pretty substantial no no. if true then somebody turned him in.

plagerism is a university matter and I don't believe would involve the ncaa at all, however somebody else taking the test or writing the paper for him would be an ncaa matter.
