Class of 2020 Seth Towns

We are still Syracuse and our name still carries weight. I’m tired of the mediocre double digit loss seasons too but we still can and will turn it around. Our recruiting is about to take off again with our best recruit since Melo committed and ready to bring others with him. Only thing more tiring than the double digit loss seasons is the defeatist attitude by some of our fans.

I hope you are right that JB can turn around the negative perception that’s built up around the program in recruiting circles. But Gary Williams couldn’t do it at Maryland and Thad Matta failed to do it at Ohio State. Both were great coaches and both were basically forced out. I really hope Dior helps to change the narrative. I’ll start to believe if we can land Benny for 2021 and Chance for 2022 (and/or Mac Etienne).

There is muscular fatigue and there is central nervous system fatigue. Cumulative stress without adequate recovery can lead to CNS fatigue, which manifests itself as "sluggishness" and coordination issues even if the muscles don't feel tired. Ever hear about athletes who train all out and feel like they're on top leading up to a meet or competition only to flame out? Classic CNS fatigue.
I get it powerlifting. First time it happened I was like What? Am I sick?

in any case, the narrative that his commitment makes or breaks the next season is 100% made up
I mean to a certain extent. Obviously one kid isn’t going to make a whole team. But take out Hughes from this year, as Boeheim would say “we don’t win 10 ****** games” and that might have been true. Without Towns next season looks bleak. We need him or someone of his caliber to fill Hughes shoes.
On top of that if we land Towns I’m pretty confident we would land Tape too.
That being said Tape might actually make his decision before Towns so we’ll see how that plays out.

Do you know if anyone else is willing to take both?

Is it possible we end up with someone other than Towns or Tape? Just a hunch.

while that may be true about this year's team, next year's team will be different.
every year, people worry about replacing the outgoing players, and every year we do it. next year will be no different. with or without seth towns.

and, fwiw, to reiterate: i'm lukewarm on towns but i don't want tape. i think we are good with plan a, which is to continue the development of what we have

Those things are not mutually exclusive.

We can have Tapé AND continue developing the guys already here.

gradxfers are bad program medicine

Well, of course they replace them. But the problem is that they're not replacing them with players of similar or greater talent level. There's a reason SU has been more or less .500 in ACC conference play.
you might want to check your math on that statement

Well, to be honest, we really didn’t replace what we lost last year. We have 14 losses, about to be 15, and we’re on the NIT bubble. I guarantee you that if we don’t find a suitable replacement for Hughes, next year will look a lot like this year. And, truthfully, don’t count on the incoming freshmen to make a big difference.

Oh, sure.
Like we woulda been sooooo much better off without Uncle Drew & John Gillon that year.
When we had NOBODY ELSE.
you'll need a better argument to sway me than referencing my least favorite orange team ever
