Class of 2020 Seth Towns

I think our guards will get better with time. Both will be very good on offense. And while they will never, ever, be real good on defense, they can get better with experience.

Neither of them is getting open anymore. I attribute it to legs being gone. Do you think Buddy and Joe should have played as many minutes as they did this year, and do you think it had an effect on our shooting this past month - or was it just a long cold streak that affected all 3 of our primary shooters?

Too many minutes, but people who keep bringing up Carey as a potential solution need to stop. He's gone. Need a 30/30/20 split next year and I think that is BB/JG/BG.

Legs are gone after playing 31 games. How do NBA players make it through 82 ?

NBA players are professional. With training schedules and WAY more athletic than Buddy and 95%+ of all college basketballs.

Plus, the top NBA players have load management now and they don't play 40 MPG.
NBA players couldn't play 48 MPG for 31 games and be the same.

Not aimed at you specifically, but I highly doubt this is about "legs being gone." I don't think this about leg fatigue (these kids play all the time; there a multiple games per weekend at the AAU level, and so on).

What I think might be happening, if anything at all, is that playing 38+ minutes/games exposes the players to more opportunities for bumps, bruises, and minor injuries. I don't think fatigue is the issue.

AAU you play one side (offense) and slack off half the time. Look at Richmond’s highlights.

Also those games aren’t 40 minutes and the kids usually only play half the game to get everyone in. That argument doesn’t hold any water.

Completely agree. The situation sets up that Towns is most needed at SU.

I am just saying, over the past 5 years, how many recruits have we gotten where we've gone head-to-head with this group?

As far as transfers go: White, Gillon, and Chukwu, but you decided that they don’t count.

Kind of the same thing. Tired guys twist ankles, etc., like Buddy did a couple games ago. Whether that's bumps, bruises, contusions, etc., often impacts play.

BS on most of that. The games are 32 minutes; the tournaments typically guarantee a minimum of at least 3 games per weekend, many major AAU events have minimum guarantees of 4 games. Teams are paying to play.

Regardless of what you think holds water, the kids are use to playing all the time, all year long. The issue is not fatigue, especially not for 18-22 year olds at Power 5 schools. The issue, if there is one, is the the accumulative toll of all the bumps, bruises and minor injuries.

Whatever floats your boat. Games aren’t 40 minutes and they rarely play more than 3/4 of that.

Those are/were good programs. Oklahoma was just in the final four too when they were after Gillon. VCU was “hot” at that point. Michigan State. Miami was on a good run and were coming off a sweet 16.

I doubt we land either of these guys. Unfortunately History tends to repeat itself.

Others like to see what happens first, and prefer to discuss the actual happenings rather than watch a few people piss all over every topic with their H0T Takes and predictions based on nothing.

Are you pleased with the trajectory of the program? Are you happy with the product on the court? Are you OK with the highest revenue-generating basketball program in the country not making the NCAA Tournament and having 6 straight years of 13+ loss seasons? Do you invest time and disposable income to watch and support this program, only to see it disintegrate due to a stubborn old man's refusal to do things the right way or listen to others? Sorry I'm not as optimistic as you'd like but I have a couple reasons not to be.

Im here for Towns. We’re on his list. That’s what we know.

There is muscular fatigue and there is central nervous system fatigue. Cumulative stress without adequate recovery can lead to CNS fatigue, which manifests itself as "sluggishness" and coordination issues even if the muscles don't feel tired. Ever hear about athletes who train all out and feel like they're on top leading up to a meet or competition only to flame out? Classic CNS fatigue.

Why do you care about what others think and how they spend their money. If you're not happy find another team to root for.

Missed the point of the post. I honestly don't care what others do. Stating, with questions, why I'm so annoyed with the state of the program. And why I honestly don't think we have much of a shot at this kid if Kansas, Ohio State or Maryland truly want him.

I'll stick to rooting for Syracuse, thanks. Have for 38 years and, god willing, will for 38 more.

Why cant we recruit with those teams? We are SU. We are an elite program. We need to recruit like one. JB needs to work his arse off if he wants to avoid another disaster of a season.

A few years ago, none of those teams would have concerned us, except Kansas and maybe Ohio State (before they faded with all the negative recruiting Matta dealt with). And we would assume we could beat all of them if he was an East Coast kid.
