Depends on what they are writing, some offer very fair critiques of a player and their strengths and limitations, no harm in that.
Very true but I’m gonna assume if a coach who has been here 45 years and has never had a losing season wants a player he’s a pretty good player who fits in. While there is certain cases that doesn’t work I’m not gonna trust what a fan says off of a knee jerk reaction to player leaving there program.

Never said he couldn't fit in, and neither did any of the Villanova forum posts. I imagine it's just as us losing Braswell, people are giving fair assessments of what we are losing, nothing knee jerk about it.

Last ten years?!?! We’ve had one and dones and guys that led this team to final fours and this kid is the best guard in ten years? Exactly the overreaction I was talking about.
Exactly...Kadary is very good...but off the top of my head...I don’t take him over MCW, Dion, Ennis, Battle, Silent G, maybe not even Triche just yet.

Yeah. I played since I was in grade school, AAU all that. Even then when we would play in tourneys that had kids from overseas there is a fluidity to their ability to handle the ball that is nuts. Incredible coordination to handle the ball from the ground to above the head and around an opponent. Also if you are stiff you are gonna be injury prone. Like a DB in football you need fluid hips or you are having trouble. That was my problem and it ended my chance of playing in college days with a torn quad that I couldn't walk on without a limp for 8 months.

I think you mentioned your kid had a bad injury right? Mine happened my SR year too. Was devastated and lost a partial scholly at a D2 school.
Torn hip labrum. Surgeon said most high level athletes have it, but it becomes a matter of degree. (Soccer & FB, especially O-line.) It doesn’t bother most, but when it does, it becomes pain tolerance issue. For keepers, the explosive moves and diving can really be impacted.
We shall see, but are very hopeful. Surgery on the 12th.
Hard part is recruiting. He was recruited to start this year for Iowa’s Western CC, but couldn’t get healthy (no wonder). The are pre-season #3. He won’t have any college video because he redshirted his first year.
Oh well, the universe will get him where he is supposed to be.

Yeah exactly.. kadary had potential to be in the group but in no way was his freshman year comparable to Ennis. That’s no shot at kadary but he’s not a top 10 Syracuse guard in the last ten years.

Yes, he is. He isn't slow.

He also isn't Hakim Warrick. It isn't an A or B only choice, though -- there's a big continuum of athleticism, and Swider is above being an average athlete.

And again -- you were completely wrong about Edwards being unathleticjerami Grant

Edwards is mobile and can run. My view on athletic guys is a combo of speed, jumping ability, strength, quickness. Certainly a center can be great without be super athletic (Rick Jackson, Otis Hill, Arinze)... Not saying Edwards is not athletic but mixed with the suggested lineup he would not move the bar. Benny Williams is going to be super athletic, Woody seems super athletic, Kadary was super athletic. My main point is we need more athletes like Houston, Michigan, Oregon. IMO it gives you the best chance to win. I like Edwards and think he will be better every year was not the intent of my point.

Yup easily the best pg.

Lydon was quick off his feet but not great laterally.

Griffin was quick but awful in the zone.

If Swider has good anticipation and knows the rotations he’ll be fine. He’s not going to Wes Johnson but he doesn’t have to be. A lot of Bras’ steals were anticipation, not pure athleticism
IMO Griffen should have been at the top of the zone. Having a 6’5” guy down low does not work. Maybe he would have been as bad up top. Maybe just not a fit and better in a up tempo fast paced system.

Pretty much what I am getting from a few Villanova basketball forums as well, but they also think he would be a good fit for him here.
Certainly the zone would help him as he cant play straight up man.

He already showed he’s a better playmaker than battle, silent g and triche. So yes hes one of the best in the last ten years easily.

Could be the most in athletic team ever. BB, JG3, JBJR, Swider, Edwards. We may get zero steals, loose balls, deflections and not be able to press again. UGH
Joe and Buddy combined for 72 steals this year. Edwards had 8 in 160 minutes (2 per 40)

Swider would be a decent pickup given our circumstances but it’s kind of annoying that we have a guy in Woody who is probably a better player with more upside on our team already who was mismanaged and will most likely be leaving.

Im sure I’ll get blasted for saying this and there will be plenty of reasons given why Woody isn’t good or selfish but it’s hard to see players that have high ceilings choose us out of high school not given a chance to try and succeed for whatever reason earlier in their career.

Agreed, but to be fair, Kadary is probably the best guard we've had since Silent G imo. When you take into consideration his playmaking, and prime athleticism and length in the zone he just is. He was crazy underutilized. His per 40 stats are that of a big time NBA prospect.

Damn. That is definitely correctable for sure but just awful timing. One of the goalies I played AAU ball with had that injury too so definitely familiar. I feel for you guys as I remember how frustrating it is to have an injury setback like that. Fingers crossed all goes well and he gets his shot.

He is not better than MCW or Ennis at the college level. Best PG pro prospect since MCW absolutely.
He’s a better facilitator than mcw. And on par with ennis. But both mcw and ennis were better scorers .

MCW averaged 7.3 apg his sophomore year on a team that was challenged at times offensively. I think it's hard to make that call. We will see how things pan out whenever he lands. MCW was also an elite defender and faster than Kadary.

I am not knocking KR as he is a big time talent but I would need to see more before annointing him over either of those two.

Kadary is definitely in the discussion. He has a seat at the table of the best pgs. If he stayed and kept developing he could of been top 5-10 pgs ever at Syracuse by the time he graduated.

After watching some more tape on Cole hes better then I thought at putting the ball on the floor and getting to his spots. The outside shooting we could have would be crazy...hopefully the zone can hide some of the defensive deficiencies. Would be a really solid pick up and I hope he chooses us.

*still want another high flyer added though if possible*

You still prefer jimmy lol

I think they both have things they bring to the table but like you and others have said, its hard to pass on a guy his size that shoots 40% and can put the ball on the floor. Im not going to beat a dead horse here but ill just say it one time...IF we had Kadary at the 1 along with Buddy/Benny/Jesse all on the floor then I woulda been ecstatic with the idea of bringing in Cole from the get go. I don't like the idea of having multiple liabilities on the floor at the same time defensively and Kadary is a Athlete to pair with Benny. Thats not a possibility now so it is what it is and I just hope we don't suffer from a defensive standpoint. I know I wouldn't want to get in a shootout though with Buddy/JG3/Cole all on the floor. Could be lights out in a hurry. He definitely suprised me though after watching tape at how well he put it on the deck and moves with the ball as well as spotting up. Kids rock solid and ill be happy if we get him!
