You think our beloved coach is going to last five years???! (He really wants to surpass Coach K in the worst way, doesn't he?)
I'm 90% sure the first call will go to hop, but I'm less certain it'll ever manifest itself
I think Hop will return one day. And here's partly why (besides all the obvious stuff): He can improve Washington to respectability and maybe even get them consistently into the upper echelons of the PAC 12. I believe he will succeed at that. But what he will realize over time and with more experience as a HC is that it's ALOT harder to weather adversity and downturns at a school like UW than at a school with a nationally recognizable brand name and identity like Syracuse. Every college basketball program faces adversity and downturns as time goes on. Not to get all Daryl Gross, but it's taken 40 years to build SU's durable CBB brand, and it will take a long time and a lot of hard work and LUCK to build anything like SU's brand at UW--and he may never get there. Gonzaga's been at it for nearly 20 years and they're still not on our level in terms of brand. There are a lot of inherent advantages at a program like SU (rich Northeast recruiting grounds, fan base, the Dome and Melo Center, ACC affiliation, rabid fan base, New York state's most recognizable D1 program) that UW can't match. He can win national titles at SU. I don't know about money, but I imagine Wildhack will find the funds if we want Hop to come home.

This kid reminds of Stevie Thompson that has a better shot and not as athletic as him,but close enough.

Goodine looks really athletic and a very quick off the ground with great elevation, but Stevie was otherworldly. That kid's jumping ability was off the charts and his open court speed was flatout ridiculous.

Thompson is probably the most underrated SU player of all time and the best leaper at SU since I started watching 34 years ago.

Hakim Warrick second most explosive off the ground, but Stevie could do most of the same stuff at 7 inches shorter...

Stevie was awesome. I can't remember the opponent, but one time he stole the inbounds pass and dunked it to end a game. Amazing

Stevie may be my favorite SU player. Interestingly, McNeil reportedly had a higher vertical leap than Warrick.

Red Bruin has to be included in any discussion of verticle leap.
I heard Jesus had mad hops too. He dunked on Pontius Pilate in gym class junior year. Needless to say PP knows how to hold a grudge.

imagine stevie playing at the top of the recent versions of jb's zone ... the live ball turnovers & athletic conversions at the other end would be dizzying

David Johnson? I don't think of some of the guys above as necessarily (Goodine included) explosive leapers. Thompson for sure was. Warrick to me was a bouncy-springy guy who finished with surprising power. He barely needed to jump since his arms were so long.

Hak had a 38" vertical. He was explosive.

We can agree to disagree. He threw down some great dunks from distance and finished more powerfully then one would think, but, I never thought of him as an explosive player, per se.

I don't get this at all. He's one of the most explosive players in the last 20 years. I respect your option because you know your stuff but I can't disagree with you stronger here.

Maybe it's the long arms that disguise it for me. I don't know. When I hear "explosive" I think of Vince Carter, Melvin Levett, Donovin Mitchell, Blake Griffin, Kenyon Martin, Jeff Trepagnier, the dude who played on Detroit who dunked on us, etc.

Yeah, Hak was skinny and all arms and legs. Most of those guys are pretty jacked. Still, he exploded to the rim.

Hak was "smooth" explosive. I get what you mean though it was just implied given his size. I wish we could re live that year with he and melo.

Besides his Texas dunk, it was so much fun watching him vs Notre Dame.. seemed like some of his best were always vs the Irish.

Yes, the more smooth description was what I was looking for. I'm going to get destroyed for saying it but I'm sticking to my opinion. I was always impressed how he finished with power for such a skinny guy. Yeah, he killed ND all the time, ha. Looking forward to seeing how Brissett will be flying around and such.

IMO. If Hop does well, he says no, if we ask.
If he doesn't do well, we don't ask.

IDK if Red has the "fire" I would want in SU's next coach, but not for me to decide

Hop, at best, is the guy who replaces the guy post Boeheim.

Let's just hope we don't hire a Ray Handley.

I don't remember Handley having any head coaching experience. At least if it's Hop, he will have a track record to speak of. Hopefully it's positive.
