I was comparing how easily he was dunking compared to a year ago. The fact his friends are providing little to no resistance doesn’t affect that. I don’t know if that is a function of height, or if his athleticism has improved. One data point, he represented Puerto Rico in the Nike International Hoop Summit invitational recently. His official measurements have Kiyan about as tall as his dad as of a few months ago. Kiyan was measured with shoes, Carmelo, measurements from the NBA combine, did not.
Regarding the workout we saw with Kiyan, I personally think both of the guys with the pads should be wacking Kiyan with everything they have every time. He’s going to get hit much harder than that on non calls frequently… especially when we play the North Carolina ACC teams. They aren’t really simulating game conditions if he’s not getting body checked and smacked in the face every rep.
Plus, my other comment was about his shooting. He looks good shooting that step in three in rhythm. I hope he gets to take a couple hundred of those this season off the bench.
EDIT, I found the measurements list.
Kiyan Anthony
Height 6’6
Standing reach 8’5.5”
Wingspan 6’8
Hand length 8’5
Hand width 9’5
Carmelo Anthony
Height 6’6.25”
Standing Reach 8’9.5”
Wingspan 7’
So he’s not caught his dad as of April.
