Nice looking workout. He definitely looked like he was dunking with less effort than in previous highlights.

Also, I definitely think he can make threes in rhythm at high percentages!

He’s definitely looking more aggressive and ready to compete at the college level. He’s come a long way in a couple years. He’s around the right people.

Looking forward to what he and all the other newcomers bring. Hopefully they will be able to mesh on both ends of the floor.

It’s been a long time since we’ve had such a high profile player. In fact, he is unique for us in terms of father-son duos. I wonder how he will handle his status and how his team will handle it?

It seems everyone agrees he will come off the bench. Do people think he will still be coming off the bench mid-year?

You guys are funny. He’s practicing against friendly foam, and we have no idea who or how tall his buddies are….
I was comparing how easily he was dunking compared to a year ago. The fact his friends are providing little to no resistance doesn’t affect that. I don’t know if that is a function of height, or if his athleticism has improved. One data point, he represented Puerto Rico in the Nike International Hoop Summit invitational recently. His official measurements have Kiyan about as tall as his dad as of a few months ago. Kiyan was measured with shoes, Carmelo, measurements from the NBA combine, did not.

Regarding the workout we saw with Kiyan, I personally think both of the guys with the pads should be wacking Kiyan with everything they have every time. He’s going to get hit much harder than that on non calls frequently… especially when we play the North Carolina ACC teams. They aren’t really simulating game conditions if he’s not getting body checked and smacked in the face every rep.

Plus, my other comment was about his shooting. He looks good shooting that step in three in rhythm. I hope he gets to take a couple hundred of those this season off the bench. :)

EDIT, I found the measurements list.

Kiyan Anthony
Height 6’6
Standing reach 8’5.5”
Wingspan 6’8
Hand length 8’5
Hand width 9’5

Carmelo Anthony
Height 6’6.25”
Standing Reach 8’9.5”
Wingspan 7’

So he’s not caught his dad as of April.

It might just be me, but his form on his threes looks better than a year or so ago.
He’s a completely different player from 2 years ago. Chris has helped him big time plus his dad knows what he needs to work on as well. He’s at an advantage having professionals by his side. Chris was training Melo when he was at the knicks for a period of time as well. Chris has helped many stars improve their games. He’s legit and respected.

Brigitte Macron would be useful in this.

Melo was every bit of 220 lbs when he played game 1.

I did think Kiyan looked thicker in the video (ahem)

Sorry—who is Chris?
Is he as big as Cher or Pele? [Showing my age... Or Madonna or Lorde or... someone from this era? "How do you do, fellow kids?"]

You wanted to know. He's just some guy who hangs around the gym chewing gum.//

Kiyan has been working with NBA trainer Chris Brickley (6'4"), who has worked with NBA stars like LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Carmelo.

Kiyan Anthony works with Chris Brickley, a well-known NBA trainer, on his basketball skills. Brickley has been training Kiyan since he was in the fifth grade, and their relationship is a well-documented part of Kiyan's basketball development.

Kiyan to me looks improved every time I see an update on him, esp. throwing down those 8 threes - very smooth.

So the guy is 6'4"...JB approves that Chris knows ball.
Kiyan looks 3+"s taller to me.

In the final RSCI for his class, Kiyan Anthony finished ranked 32nd in the class.

Sadiq White finished 30th.

The other three recruits didn’t make the ranking, so the class was ranked 10th on the strength of the top two players.
