Coming here puts us closer to the tournament/contention than it does Dayton. With what they’re losing and how teams are projected to improve they’re a fringe top-half of the A-10 team which is nowhere close to the tournament. And our track record with transfers is evident with Eli blowing up like he did.

Crossing my fingers, we could use some good news

The zone don't mask that any more - and he'd be a perfect fit if he can't play defense. I'm starting to get onboard with this kid.

Tell Blackwell to get in touch and explain what a nice move it is from Urbana to Cuse! Or me! I spent a decent portion of my life at that school - I could be lead recruiter!

Yeah, after Kam's closed, what's the point of staying?!

Dayton is losing 38ppg.

They’re returning 3 guards who will be seniors and averaged a combined 32ppg. The next highest returning scorer is a big man who averaged 5ppg.

They’re also adding 2 guards in recruiting; 1 is a 2-star the other isn’t ranked.

so they’ll be super guard heavy next year but need to replace 38ppg. I assume that could be a plus for Griffin that he’d slide in and get a lot of shots. But he’d do the same here. We’re closer to home, not a mid major, he can play against his brother, etc.

I really can’t see why he’s pick Dayton. You could even argue he’d be the #2 option in Dayton (Crutcher is back) and he’s be the #1 guy here

Would you rather go out and die? In the 1940's people had to go to Europe and fight a war. No football for them. We do what we have to do. No one wants football cancelled. I hope it isn't. But I'm not willing to have people die so that I can have it.
In WWII people were asked to go to war. We’re being asked to stay home and sit on our coach. We should be able to handle this.

Somebody told me it's gone :( Gone, gone, gone.

Good point, get him here, we'll show him 44s and lock HIM DOWN!

Vaughn ending up in Dayton would be good for us, I would think

Yep. I don’t know their scholarship situation but him going would essentially give Dayton 6 guys at the 1/2/3 before Griffin is involved

Personally I don't want Griffin at forward, I want him at guard. (I understand this is a pipe dream because buddy and Girard are not coming off the floor). I believe we need more size at the 3. Our best defensive teams is when we have height on the wings. We need a 3 who is 6'7" or taller IMO. Kris Joseph, CJ Fair, Wes Johnson. We get into trouble on interior defense and rebounding when our guys are under 6'7" imo. Eli I thought was a little smaller for the wing.

Yes I’d love Fair, Wes or KrisJo too. Right now QG is probably starting at the 3, which works defensively but really limits our offense

I would sign up for CJ Fair 2 in a heartbeat.

Problem is, there's nobody on next year's roster like that -- maybe Braswell can emerge, but that is no guarantee.

So the question comes down to: who are the best players we can add, whether or not they fit some "prototype" or not? And Griffin would be a pretty darn good "get." 6-7 or not.

Can we get Sidibe to put on 20 lbs of muscle? And Edwards 40 lbs? I don’t want to see Marek have to play the 5 again this year. I really don’t. The kid deserves a break.
Do they have access to weight rooms?

I really feel that Newton has a bigger upside than Braswell, but I don’t expect him to contribute in a big way as a freshman. He has a better handle than Braswell and is just a shade below him as a a shooter. But, agree, Griffin would help.

I like the positional flexibility with him. Can play SF and SG. Seems like a good fit.

And, I'm sure as he does his research, he's going to see that Syracuse is BY FAR the best fit for him.
Close to home - check.
Highest level P5 hoops - check.
HOF coach - check.
Gets to play against his brother - check.
Strong history of transfer players thriving - check.

Just have to show him how Wes, Silent G, and Eli all did here.
(and PC, Uncle Drew, & John Gillon for that matter. Geno who?? :p )
Each of them was able to go from Just A Guy at their former program, to THE MAN at Syracuse.
