Class of 2017 SG/SF Jordan Tucker (NY / GA) Leaving Duke to Butler

I respect your intel (and Dasher's) to date. How confident are you in Ayala (assuming he is Orange) simply being serviceable and running the offense? That is if Frank continues his inability to play PG and/or reduced minutes there.

I have zero intel as to whether we will land Ayala but trust others' confidence. I'll be honest: I know little about Ayala apart from what I've seen in clips. Never seen him in person or a full game online. He does look like he'd be good enough to help us at point guard, based on the small sample.

Ayala, if we land him, is coming here to get big minutes. He will play most of them at the point next year, the rest to spell Battle.

the only thing I know for sure is if we land ayala, we wont know how many minutes he will get until practice starts and first few games.

Excited to see Tucker coming early...maybe good news over the weekend. Dasher, I hope you're right about him and Ayala. I definitely trust your info.

If this happens, what's the possibility of us grabbing a 5th year SF that could provide backup minutes to Tucker or to play if he were to get into foul trouble?

Or is it possible to use the available scholarship against the sanctions. Is that part of the plan?

Personally, I see his career being more like Rautins, AO, Jackson, Scoop, Southerland, Joseph, Rak etc. than Ennis, Dion, Jerami, MCW, Malachi. Programs need the first group to sustain success and I'd be glad to bring him on board.

I'm not disputing you but using your groups: we thought Ennis was more like Scoop than he was like Ennis at this time in 2013.

Unfortunately the scholarship penalties are set in stone from here on out. They let us apply 3 to the first year so 2018 will only have one scholarship lost, but we can't do more than that.

I believe we cannot use future openings against the sanctions anymore.

If we get Tusker and Ayala, and I think we will, I'm pretty sure we are done with this class.

More sure than election night? ;)

By the way... Whatever happened to diagne

I didn't say that Tucker was a sure thing. I think he is a probable.

So weird. I wonder what he sees.

He sees what I saw last year.

Then something happened this year.

I did a big 180 with him, but I'm less concerned than some just because I was originally so high on him as freshman in limited minutes. His vision is what I liked, a lot.

And yet, we don't bring up that observation every time you post. Imagine.

Maybe you don't want to know any information. That works for me.

Easy there.

That said... Eventually, everybody will know the information. I'm not one of those people who gets jacked up knowing things early on. Many do, that's cool.

THAT said... Yes, absolutely please continue to post whatever info you get. I'm just saying at some point, these guys either will be standing on the Syracuse Orange court when the games are played, or they won't be.

What observation? That I liked frank as a freshman.

Keep in mind, me saying less concerned doesn't mean I'm not concerned. I'm talking compared to some here.

Tucker has been on campus multiple times (no reason to keep beating that dead dog). So I'm not worried about Moyer or any other player "hosting" him. He knows what the campus life at SU is about.

This visit is about a sit down with the staff and going in depth about what is needed from him and making sure if he does pick SU is fits his future best.

I would be absolutely fine with our class being done if we land both Tucker and ayala...i think it would be a good idea to bring in a 5th year guy anyways but like many have said they probably won't and that's ok. A class of bourama, brissett, Washington, ayala and Tucker would be welcomed by all cuse fans basically any year...thats a pretty good haul and helps us restock our program with some 4 year guys who can develop and give us some stability as well as some great scorers who can make huge impacts immediately (Tucker and ayala)
IF they get those 5, that's a well-balanced class. One for each position (Ayala as a CG).

If you're not about worried about which player is his host, you haven't done your homework.

There is no need to do "homework". I know what happened and I'm not worried about it happening again. If people on this board want to start handing out death penalties to every kid how screwed up on a college campus then SU would have been starting a lot of walk ons the past 30 years.

I do think kids can change and learn from their mistakes. I'm not sure what you saw in college but I know I had my runs in and I know a lot of my friends did as well. And now look we are all functioning parts of socitiety. People make mistakes at young ages on college campus and hopefully they learn from it. You have to assume kids on the team do as well because at the end of the day these are college kids in a college atmosphere and they are going to make college kid mistakes.

I also get you are one of the posters who think they are the only ones with any info and I always read your posts because most of the time you have great stuff but you probably should calm down on jumping on people who do not agree with you or have a different opinion. You have been doing it for the last 3 or 4 pages.

Outside of needling you lightheartedly (and yes, that's what it was), where did I jump on anyone? If any of my posts came off that way, that was not my intention. I never brag about having info. I've never even said I'm well-connected. I can't pick up a phone and talk to one of the coaches and I've never said or even hinted that is the case. I do have some contacts but I'm certainly not a poster on my high horse.

The rest of your post I agree with for the most part but I do think we will be more selective about whom use as team hosts going forward. We have to make sure we make a good impression, that's why I'm bummed Moyer won't be around.

Edit: just went back to page 36 and read every post I made. Please show me one post (outside of the one responding to you that I addressed above) where I jumped on anyone. In fact, I agreed with pretty much every post I responded to or disagreed without even being the slightest bit argumentative.

I don't think anybody has been jumping on anybody. Most of the discussions on this board are reasonable and only in certain instances do things get amateurish (the tiresome narratives that Gonzaga/Oregon/Arizona/UCLA suck and would be middle of the pack in the ACC for example) on occasion.

We don't know if a guy like Howard has learned from his mistakes or not. He pulled numerous stunts that would've warranted dismissal from the program. One could argue that just one of them justified dismissal. I'm glad you are confident but neither you or I are a prophet and it is totally reasonable to be concerned with all things regarding recruiting and Howard.

You have to be making up that some posters have said that those teams would be middle of the pack ACC teams.

Nope. Check Alpharetta's posts maybe two rounds ago in the Tourney. It was quite the stand. I'll try to find the thread. It was unreal the lack of respect to those teams.
