Class of 2017 SG/SF Jordan Tucker (NY / GA) Leaving Duke to Butler

but you on the other hand...

You seem to have a problem as well with anyone who thinks those teams would finish better than middle of the pack in ACC or anywhere else. Yes those conferences are much weaker top to bottom but very good teams are still very good teams. Oregon was in it til the bitter end of a F4 game without their starting C. All those other games were competitive. Gonzaga down to the wire. Those would all be dogfights in a seven game series.

nah I think there are some really good, legit teams out west - just get a kick how everywhere I look on here you're talking up the mighty pac10 while trashing our team on a pretty regular basis,
but yeah I sure hope Tucker commits this wknd!!!

As do I! I'm just a concerned fan. Not "trashing" anybody. Plenty of others share the same concerns and don't want to continue mediocrity which is what is happening currently. Or slip further. I'd rather not sugarcoat and/or sweep issues under the rug. We both bleed Orange man. Cheers.

When did this thread become a pissing contest?

Tucker is coming to town this weekend. That is great--news. We should all be pumped. I know nothing about this situation, but several of our most connected posters say we have a legit shot to land him this weekend or very soon after. Tucker (or was it his father) said he plans to decide by the end of this month, which is about 3 weeks away. This would be a game changer. This would make our recruiting class go from unranked to top 25 IMO.

I'm not disputing you but using your groups: we thought Ennis was more like Scoop than he was like Ennis at this time in 2013.

I don't know if I remember it that way. Ennis I think finished as a top 20-25 player in the country by ESPN, was best point guard on the floor in the Jordan game and was viewed as a huge snub for McDonalds AA (think he scored like 60 in the game after the announcements). Everyone was pretty high on Ennis and knew he would be the man for us at the point guard spot from Day 1. People just didn't expect him to leave early for the draft because they didn't think he would be athletic enough. Scoop was viewed as the program guard coming in with his class and Flynn as the day 1 instant impact guy.

Fair warning - Jordan Tucker or

Take your arguments elsewhere.

For the concerned crowd... Frank will not be on campus this weekend.

No Moyer as previously noted. Not to mention that Jordan has seen the campus, students, life, etc. plenty already.

This is all business for Tucker and our staff. Time to close.

so if Tucker doesn't commit after this weekend should we be concerned? Whatever Frank did or didn't do, whatever happened with Tucker on one of his earlier visits that seemed to make us cool on him - I don't like this look of "we need them so we accept them". Standards and expectations don't change based on wins and losses. Or shouldn't. That said - in JB we trust, though that trust is getting shaky.

Ah, the nuclear option.

I better say something about Jordan Tucker ... I hope he commits to SU.

It's full press for Tucker on this visit, and I'd say if he leaves without committing we should begin to be concerned. GTech is fully in play. I think JB realizes this is a must win and advanced the timetable of his visit, closing is crucial here. I like our chances.

Great news! I was going to offer to drive ol Frank home for the weekend but you know the NCAA would be all over that one.

Ennis was in the 5-8 range as point guards in the nation as I remember. Much better than Scoop. In fact Ennis was so good we told Monte Morris to pound sand.

LET'S DO THIS!! I'm stocked. Have a really good feeling about this. If we could add Tucker and Ayala to this class man would that be great. Sidibe, Brissett, Washington, Tucker and Ayala would be a really good balanced class of quality program building players.

...which in retrospect was a pretty poor decision / outcome.

I didn't mean we thought he was a second tier player, I mean that the consensus was that he was a multi year guy. With many saying 4 year guy. The context of the original post I responded to was grouping players as 4 year guys or leave early guys.

Yea I think when I made those two groups I was looking at it more like guys who didn't have a huge impact in their first year and even second year in some cases but developed in the program and were key pieces as upperclassmen versus guys who came in and were key cogs early (with MCW showing plenty of promise as a freshmen but stuck in a log jam at guard). Probably should've included Triche in the second group to better clarify my point because you're right it did just become early departures vs. 4 year guys.

Ennis I always thought was an elite talent that a lot of people kinda figured just because he wasn't an elite athlete to go with it NBA teams wouldn't be interested. He still was expected to have a huge impact from day 1 though which was more the angle I was looking at.
