I respect the respect you have for those who tried to contribute to success for Syracuse Football.

But to compare Red Auerbach to FHCSS in any way is like comparing LeBron James to LeBron Ellis as basketball players. There are technical similarities but the two could not be further apart.

Yeah that’s exactly what I was doing - comparing the skills/success of a legendary professional basketball coach of the 1950s and 1960s to those of a 21st Century college football coach.

He took us to a bowl win his first year.

He was not over his head that season.

He had horrible luck with QBs the next two seasons - our first seasons in the ACC.

Plus, Doug Marrone did not leave the cupboard full of talent when he left.

I recall disagreeing with some of Scott Shafer’s decisions toward the end, but I didn’t ever feel that he was over his head.
Marrone’s recruits (yes he was on staff) and he had a few hold overs including Moore and OL coach Perles. That matters. He made good hires in Lea and Lester but should have pulled the plug on George McFly sooner. His ISIS comment signified that he was over his head.

You literally did directly reference the behavior being ok and cited a specific individual who did it often versus a guy who did it...once. Geez.

I can't believe people still defend Scott Shafer, the head coach.
