We don’t know if GMAC isn’t that guy. Everyone is so hung up on moving on from JB and the Cuse family …People JB was a great coach .. Yeah he played some daddy ball in his last years and the team fell a bit .. He still won with a weaker roster and got to some sweet 16s… The Autry hire was bad but that’s not a reflection on JB or the Cuse family… GMAC is his own coach and person .. He had fantastic 1st year and if it continues and he has higher success next year why would you not look at him .. Just because he’s Cuse family .. That makes zero sense .. Again watch a Siena game and see him coach and his body language and competitive spirit … It’s very evident the guy is gonna be a really good coach but let’s pass on him if he’s good!
Syracuse needs a 100% cultural turnover after Red is done.
No former assistants with connections to donors or the BOT.
Part of why we are in this this downward spiral is because the culture is rotten... "Let's do it the way we have always done with someone we know"...it is not going to work for us anymore.
Clean slate reboot with a quality external hire and staff and NIL connections (like we saw with Fran.)
Why should we go outside??
For example, Strength & Conditioning... do we want a fresh approach on that or do want what we've always done??
i.e. Old-skool get players into shape by using the first month-and-half of the season's games to build their strength and stamina and hope they aren't injured in the process. Can we get underweight players on nutrition and weight room plans to actually put on bulk when needed and conversely slim down players that are a little heavy?
S&C is just one example of where we need a new, fresh, and MODERN approach. There are others as well.
...At least that's my 2 cents.
