Siena Basketball: GMAC / Blackwell / AO

IF $ rumor is true, and factoring in the Fulton kid must have cost more to keep, G-mac is doing well fundraising with Saints alums.

They went from bottom of the MAAC to middle of the standings, one game below .500. I have to think that this year they're targeting the top part of the league.

So, do any hoops insiders know if we approached Siena/GMac for a game this year? I only ask because I don't see any "pay" games on Siena's schedule other than Indiana. We could fund their athletic department for an entire year. And it would probably be a very highly-attended game (which would pay for itself if we offered them a bit more than the usual pay game).

Of course, I could also see Gerry not wanting this game...yet.

I've said it before and I understand all the reasons why it would be a highly attended game, but because of Red's precarious position it would be fatal to play Siena and lose to them.

It's not worth it (from basketball side).

I agree with cusefan88 above in Red probably not wanting to play yet. But also Gerry may want to wait a year or two when he has a better team. Agree, should draw a big crowd. Maybe they meet in the NCAAT?

I think I may have mentioned this before, but I know that Le Moyne approached them about a home and home and I believe offered to play the Le Moyne home game downtown at the War Memorial, since it's about double the capacity of Le Moyne's gym.

My understanding is that if Gerry is going to come back to Syracuse, the first time needs to be against SU at the Dome (which is understandable).

Fair points. Thanks.

Actually, I think the first time against LeMoyne makes perfect sense in a lot of ways.

Since JB didn't like playing against former assistants if at all possible, I could see Red feeling the same. He would also be facing a Siena bench full of former SU guys as assistants. I realize that for Gerry, it would be an enormous big deal, but for Red maybe less so.

I think a Siena-Lemoyne matchup would be perfect. The only downside for LeMoyne is that the "home crowd" would likely be cheering heavily for GMac et al.
