Siena Basketball: GMAC / Blackwell / AO

GMAC has to learn how to teach some half court defense🥴
Without causing contact or anything that might get a foul called, somehow you have to defend that center circle to prevent a straight on bank shot. 2.7 seconds gave Colgate just enough time to run a great play without feeling rushed. Credit to Colgate. They ran that play to perfection.

Cox, the kid who made the shot, scored 16 of his 22 points in the last ten minutes of the game, but he also had two turnovers in the last 1:13.

Considering Colgate had shot 20% from 3 prior to that shot, I would have given them less than 10% of a chance to make that shot. It was unfortunate for Siena that it banked in.

For those keeping track, Siena beat Longwood 70-63 today to improve to 5-2 on the year.

He said “beat longwood”

if people are rooting for Siena, soley so GMac can come back here to coach next year...then i hope he goes 0-20 the rest of the way out.

if people are rooting for Siena for other reasons...then good.
I so hope he is our head coach next year if Adrian isn’t. Probably more because of this post than anything else.

I believe many of us who are rooting for Siena, including me, are doing so because we're rooting for Gerry to be successful and have a successful career. If one day he returns to coach the Orange, great for him and for us if he's been so successful before that. But not my primary motivation, although I do think he would have better than what we have, and I've believed for 12 years that's who JB really thought should succeed him.

we are still happy you have someone who can type for you.

Siena stole one today, being shorthanded, playing sloppy, being in foul trouble, but they held on to beat American U. Tomorrow, they play their 3rd game in three days. Fortunately, they play Maine who is 0-8.

I know that even if Autry and the team fall on their proverbial faces and Gerry takes Siena to the NCAA tournament, he still won’t be our head coach. No matter how successful Gerry is, he probably won’t be considered by us for 5 - 10 years.
But damn, I wish we had chosen Gerry instead of Adrian.
I will always believe in my heart of hearts, that is who Jim saw as his successor.
And I hope all the best for him.
In many ways, he was the heart of the team- first as a player with the NCAA championship and that magical Big East run. He never stopped working and he never gave up.
Even as an assistant coach, I felt he truly bled for the team and was highly respected by the players.
So I will continue to watch and cheer Siena on.

As I will continue to watch and cheer SU and Red on.

By the way, I don’t think the SU basketball team is as bad as some people say.
They lost in overtime to the number 3 team in the country and was in the Kansas game up till the final minutes. Nothing to be ashamed of.
As to the Iowa State game, they had no chance playing a top 15 team with literally not a day off. Not to mention a pissed off team who took out their understandable frustration out on us.
And all without Donnie Freeman. I will wait to see how they do in early conference play before I make any determinations.

Holy shot, I love GMac. Always did, always will. That's no disrespect to Red or however else you want to misinterpret me. :)
Still love Cuse too!

Naw, there are still a few of us that wish much success for both head coaches. In a perfect world, Red and Gerry will face each other in the NCAAT.
