singing during the game

Why do you guys care? SU crowds don't sing, cheer or chant anyway. We are hideously lame when it comes to anything resembling crowd participation.

Let's go Orange.

And that's it.
not true

I would love to see Otto's Army or the DJ come up with something similar to the Wisconsin tradition of " Jump around" ...something that energizes the young and is still simple enough for old farts like me to do something with.
Someone posted this video a few weeks ago (sory i forget who it was) and I thought it was awesome...can you imagine 30,000 at a basketball game doing this? The roof might blow off the place : )

Well... No one has tried pumping in Dino's greatest hits, so until that point I'm not sure I can agree with you.

Sing the fight song? What do you think this is, a college? Bad enough they have to use a stadium up on a hill that's surrounded by a bunch of old buildings.

This is sarcasm right?

I propose Miles Davis "Sketches of Spain" at kickoff. Followed by "New York, New York" by Sinatra on third downs.

ok, I propose "Sketches of Spain" by Miles Davis at kickoff. Followed by "Mellow Yellow" by Donovan on third downs. As the game ends, "New York, New York" by Sinatra. Sprinkled in with some Al Green during commercials. And then have the players hand out flowers during the game. Just sayin'.

Happy Friday everyone!
After a first down "Chain Gang" would be great.

LSU fan here so excuse my ignorance… but the band isn't playing during the game? They prefer to use recorded music?
Unless it's the band from Grambling, or Southern, leave them home.

the ringing of the bell from Hells Bells, acutally works in snapping everyone to attention and screaming at the kickoff of Giants games.

im sure it would be too loud for you cnyers and lordy lordy, the word Hell is in there!!!!

Herr Kaiser - go read the tacked tv thread to find out what channel will broadcast the game to the upper east side.

Then listen, since the crowds have been small lately, on every defensive third down. You'll hear the Hells Bells chime to let the students know when to jingle their keys.

You're welcome.

100% true.

Our fanbase's willingness to do anything "collegiate" is nonexistent.

Case in point: the Final Four a couple years ago. Not only did Michigan and Louisville fans do 10X the amount of cheers than we did, but so did the fans from Wichita State.

Look, I'm not saying SU fans don't make noise, they do. I'm saying with complete certainty that SU fans do not chant, sing or do cheers.

I still can't believe, in 2015, that we play "Welcome to the Jungle" before every kick/tip-off at the Dome - a song released in 1987. Just because we play indoors doesn't mean fans want the full arena football experience. I really wish the band was bigger and played all the time - some recorded music is fine of course, but not to the extent that we hear it in the Dome.

What happened to that song our band played before kickoff in the 90s?

I believe the Pride was told to stop playing it. Too bad. Of course it reinforces my point, when I was in school (91-94 seasons) the entire student section would do a chop to it, and practically no one else would.

SU fans just don't dig college traditions.

A. The band sucks.
B. Its song choices suck.
C. The band sucks.

Are you suggesting that our band is like the Tim Lane of college bands?

Their bands put on good shows. Human jukeboxes. But you have to cover your children's eyes because of the dancing dolls routines they bring with them. Raunchy barely covers it.

That's cool.

That's not how Down The Field goes though. But I like that you guys made up your own lyrics. :)

who cares, its a cheer for every first down. You're not suggesting that cheers should have some protocol are you? Meh, this is a stupid argument. I understand what you're saying but I can't stand the painting the whole crowd for generations as being the same because you see it that way. I'm certain you haven't sat in every section in the dome

The band actually plays a song after first downs, though it's not down the field, it goes:

S Y R A C U S E, GO!

It used to be longer with arm features for each letter, but they shortened it a couple years ago and didn't tell anyone (shocking).

Down The Field is after scores, and as much as i try to get people around me to sing along, they don't.

You are right though, our crowd generally does not do typical "collegiate" chanting/cheering.

Oh wow, Journey and "Welcome to the Jungle"!! Wild stuff guys. How about we play some Kidz Bop.

Anything that goes with jingling keys.

or

Bring back Lou Reed's reanimated corpse to play Dirty Boulevard while showing images of Dewitt on the jumbotron.

Well, I'm suggesting that when the band plays the fight song that people may want to sing the fight song. That tends to be the traditional college thing to do. And at most college stadiums the majority of the fans there sing the song. That's kind of my point in all of this.

It's not like there are 47 different lyrical versions of Hail to the Victors or On Wisconsin by section.

It used to be a snippet of DTF. Now it's not?

Well sorta, the very beginning, but the chanting part is SYRACUSE Go!

What drives me nuts is after some scores they play the full DTF (twice through) and some they only do once. Really messes my singing up
