Smoke or BS in CT (B1G)?

Have no idea if this holds any water, but I believe Uconn will be in the B1G eventually. I'm sure its an unpopular opinion here.

I'm not sure how the firestorm started about UConn going to the B1g but it doesn't add up for me. The B1G has taken a nosedive in football and for them to water down the product even more seems like a terrible idea.

Radio guys says it is happening within 30 days.

I think it will happen eventually. UConn is more valuable to the Big 10 than they are to the ACC. The ACC already gets TV coverage up and down the east coast, and UConn doesn't really move the bar. The Big 10, however, could use someone to play against Rutgers to create a local NYC area rivalry. Not that either of them would ever likely challenge for a football championship, but UConn to the Big 10 makes a lot more sense than UConn to the ACC. I would prefer it happens 5 years from now, but it's going to happen eventually.

UConn and Kansas would be a major move by the Big 10. Granted (pun intended) KU may not be able to leave but these two schools would immediately put the Big 10 as #1 in hoops and be the perfect patsies for OSU and Michigan in football. A strong OSU and UM in football would give them all that they need to pump up their win total.

If UConn goes to the B1G...the ACC will counter with Cincy I assume. I can't see Miami/FSU wanting UCF or USF.

One smart move would be by the Big 12 to grab Cincy and UCF. Gives WV a playmate and they get into Florida.

Anybody confirm if this guy actually said this on WTIC this am?

If the NCAA allows the ACC champion to be picked by the conference, could the Big 10 go with 3 divisions of 5 if they do indeed go after UConn?

Interestingly, it's the UConn posters in that thread that are the most skeptical, basing their skepticism on past claims made by the journalist.

According to the Boneyard:

I know we've heard him say it before but here's the latest: This morning after his 5:45am segment he told Ray Dunaway that he thinks UCONN will have a BIG invite by the end of June. He says this has to happen by the end of June in order for everything to be in place when the BIG transitions to the new college football play-off system.

I guess Scott Gray is the Dude of Hartford. :p

Yeah there is absolutely nothing on Twitter. Twitter isn't the ultimate source but last time around it was littered with information regarding Maryland and Rutgers to the B1g.

I've always considered Scott Gray to be a reporter of news that others have gathered and not someone who actually uncovers news on his own.

Well, if true, that didn't take long.

Not surprised, really.

The B1G has been beating the ACC to the punch every chance it gets.

This would lock up the NY market for the B1G.

No one conference will "lock up New York."

I'm one of the few who thinks the ACC should take UConn now because of the value they could bring to an ACC network, but that report is just one guy speculating. And what else has the B1G beaten the ACC to the punch over? They certainly don't beat the ACC on the field when it matters.

If true... the past three additions to the B1G have been Maryland, Rutgers, and UConn. lulz That football pedigree. Very glad SU's in the ACC.

Really? UConn will be out recruiting SU in a few months if this happens. This is all they needed to get their program back on solid ground.

Rutgers has been out recruiting SU for several years now.

The B1G is a more appealing conference to me from a rivalry standpoint with UConn, Rutgers, Maryland and Penn State.

The ACC isn't getting MSG long term if UConn and Rutgers are in the B1G.

I agree with you about the ACC grabbing UConn. But I felt that way, as you know, when they took Louisville instead.

Whoa Whoa Whoa easy my friend your letting your Uconn friends take over your better judgement.

1. There is no B10 offer for Uconn, this is some radio guy that per the Boneyard is always wrong about Uconn.

2. Uconn isn't out recruiting Umass less Syracuse. Cuse has what now 7 or 8 commits? UConn has the grand total of 0. They had one of the worst Div 1 classes in the nation last year and probably won't be much better next year.

3. Syracuse finished with a higher class per Scout and Rivals then Buttgers last year and Rutgers current class is full of kids with no Div 1 offers besides Rutgers. There last commit had one offer ( Monmouth).

B10 from a rivalry standpoint is debatable, Penn State hasnt been a Rival since the 80's, Maryland was never a rival, and Rutgers was a team where both fanbases hated each other. If you want to be Uconns rival for the near future your goign to have to learn the rosters of Memphis or UCF real quick.

The ACC has passed the B1G in recruiting. The last 2 years there have been many more 4 and 5 star players joining the ACC; the talent is in the South.

every move that has happened...basically came out of nowhere.

and now storz, who is left standing at the altar, in danger of being left behind forever...is going to leak that they have a shot at survival?? thus potentially slamming their own door in their face???

not buying it.

imatt made some good points as to why it would make a little sense for the b1g.

dead horse alert: ACC shouldve grabbed rutgers, warts and all.

You know that? Who are their recruiters?

If scott Grey knows this, where are the other reporters in Ct on this?
