First off, I came down too hard on TD in anothet thread last night which I have deleted.

We have some major o-line issues and that making his life very hard. I still maintain though that the pick is inexcusable and if that doesnt improve over the course of the season we need to ensure at the very least we have someone to push him next spring and/or legit challenge for the job.

The fans were insane last night. So proud of the students, fans, and community for showing up. It's such a shame we didnt at least make a game of it.

If you take that interception out of it, Tommy had a gutsy performance behind an OL situation that was almost criminal to play someone behind. He showed flashes of what he can be if/when we get this line figured out.

That being said... it wasn’t just an interception... It was the third game, out of three starts, where he made the same exact horrible throw.

Trevor made a similarly bad throw that Trill picked off, but A) he doesn’t do that every game, and B) he makes so many big plays that mistakes aren’t as amplified.

In a vacuum though, he threw that pick, as we all started to believe we could take Clemson down to the wire, again. He only allowed us to feel that way for about 2 minutes before it was taken away. It was the type of play that almost makes you sick as a fan.

I need to rewatch that play. Clemson fans have said the receiver didn't come back to the ball and Tommy threw it as the linebacker who fell got back up which could explain why he didn't see him.

Could be some truth to the WR part, as “not attacking the ball” sounds like something they would do. (Not high on these WRs so far is an understatement).

That being said, yes, the defender was on the ground when Tommy threw it and popped up in perfect position to pick it off. However, if he doesn’t get up, the defender behind him had the second best chance of picking it off, and most likely does.

Receivers didnt help him either. At all. Had a number of throws perfectly delivered hit them in the hands and dropped. Not just one guy either, all of them. No one is talking about that and they should be.

When the kid gets a clean look he's been money.

It was a scramble situation on 1st down. He locked onto Abdul Adams sitting down in the front corner of the end zone. Linebacker underneath and safety crashing with leverage. Couch QB decision tree, to me, looked like a) turn upfield and take a few yards by running to the boundary or b) throw ball away. It looked to me like he thought he could thread the needle to Adams and that's why the ball was able to be picked.

Yeah. Two straight games now where a receiver has had a bad drop on our first series.

The WRs aren't really helping out very much, outside of Jackson against Maryland.

Looked to me like the closest CUSE kid was laying on the ground.
The next closest cuse kid was in the back of the endzone with nothing but white jerseys in front of him. It was a perplexing throw to the guy wearing a white jersey.

Tommy lacks field vision, which will develop, and throw in he's not only not terribly mobile, but that he was doing it all behind a questionable line against one of the 2 fastest and biggest defenses in the country, and with Pasqualoni like play calling in the run game, and last night is the result.

Tommy’s lack of size is evident. One touch and he’s down. Can’t coach that up. If he’s our QB the next 2 years - ALL that matters is OL development and recruiting

Watched the replay and there wasn’t a CUSE kid on the ground (I’d thought live a kid fell down or was out of bounds) so this makes the throw even more perplexing. I have no idea who he was throwing to.

Maybe we should do the carnival gopher game defense. QBs don't see guys on the ground, then BANG- interception. Burpee defense. Groundbreaking, innovative

I commend people for calling back passionate barbs in the heat of the moment.

TD did nothing to help us and those failures are situationally blatant (second dumb pick in the red zone) and scarily systemic (identify/hit the checkdowns on blitzes). But the OL is just flawed. No push on the running game. At all. The tackles are sives but still left on an island.

The atmosphere was great last night. Further, it was greater for a longer period of time than I’ve ever seen given the situation.

But once again, it could be a bit before we see that buy in.

What is up with Harris.

Lets call it like it is, a poor decision, a poor throw. Color it anyway we want Tommy needs to stop freezing up which will hopefully come with time. He choked. Period. I think that he is going to take his lumps this year. Hopefully he improves to the point that he can become an asset vs liability and get us to a bowl.

He made a few mistakes and that one was crushing but he’s not a liability.
