That we didn't just lose in the Final Four to the school we've been complaining about for 2 years for not getting any sanctions yet.

Are we going to forget that we weren't as good a team as we could've been if we didn't get sanctioned and then lost to UNC who was at full strength when they should've been disciplined far more severely than we ever was.

Now that Syracuse has been whitewashed with this Final Four run I see we no longer have the NCAA board (unless I'm not seeing it?). I guess we can now pretend that whole thing never happened. The NCAA must love that.

We got to the Final Four guys, but we were screwed again. What good is a Final Four run, if the NCAA rigs the odds in the other teams favor once we get there?

Who did we lose because of the sanctions that would have put us on UNCs level?

We lost to the better team, how can we realistically be upset? Our guys played their hearts out for a month and turned this into a magical season. I'm focused on our guys and what they were able to accomplish. I don't really care about UNC.

Bryant. Last I checked UNC score 50 points in the paint.

Plus the games we lost during Boeheim's suspension.

And most importantly, it's the principle of it. They did far worse, and were not punished yet. We did barely anything, and were punished severely. Yet look who we lose to in the Final Four. The "superior" team.

It's a joke.

Bryant wasn't coming either way

Now how is the NCAA going to punish them?

"OK everybody, we're going to pretend UNC never went to the Championship game. OK?"

They shouldn't have even been eligible for the tournament for 3 years. They should be wiping 3 losing seasons from their record, not a National Championship run.

You haven't heard what happened? The NCAA was so pissed at UNC that they brought down the hammer on Syracuse, or so went the joke last year.

Needless to say many will be watching to see the end result of UNC's issues

Bryant not coming here had nothing to do with the sanctions. And let's wait to see what their sanctions are. Let's not forget that we also gamed the system by taking last year as the year we took out post season ban.

If it makes you feel any better, Roy was just shown on Sportscenter and i thought i heard him say something to the effect- he didnt think the ncaa would do much because there havent been any specific allegations against his program. Dont know what's the heck he was talking about. Clearly there were years and yrs of unc teams who should not have been academically eligible...

But i fully expect unc mens basketball to get off shockingly light compared to what happened to us...

The NCAA board has been gone long before this run. There was no longer a need for it just like we got rid of the Bernie Fine board after it had run its course. It's not some conspiracy.

This. The last 3 weeks were amazing as a Syracuse fan. It's not like we lost to a team that was seeded lower than we were. It was the Final Four against a team who was pretty much in the top 5 all year long and will probably win the title. I'm more proud than anything as a fan.

I'd take losing to UNC anyday of the week rather than the Butlers, Daytons, and Vermonts of the world. Although it seems that when we lose in the tournament, it is never with a good performance, we at least know in this case that we didn't jip ourselves out of advancing - UNC is legitimately a championship caliber team.

They are not mutually exclusive. You can be proud of the team and the run and still wonder "what if" UNC hadn't dumped all that fresh info about women's basketball at a very convinient time.

They are currently the better team. A better team built on decades of great tradition masking years and years of blatant systemic academic cheating. It's okay to openly question where that tradition would be without the athletes that played when they should have been on academic probation.

The question of where we'd be is a little more clear. Probably a wee bit better off. But we wouldn't be playing that juggernaut either.

That's true, but we did a very similar thing last year by taking the ban in the middle of the season instead of having it happen this year.

This team wasn't good enough to feel bitter about losing to North Carolina by double digits. The fact we got to the Final Four was amazing. We were obviously the worst team of the 4 teams.

No bitterness. The NCAA can burn for over-punishing us last year but we gamed the system by taking the postseason ban last year. We still are losing 5 scholarships the next 3 years which sucks but this Final Four run will help way more than those lost scholarships.

North Carolina's time is coming. The school has tried to put all the blame on its women's program but that will not be enough.

Men's basketball and Football will lose scholarships and Men's basketball should get atleast 1 but probably 2 years banned from the postseason.

I disagree with you on gaming the system with the self ban. If nothing else, this year proved that any post season can be special. Especially when you have a HOF coach and elite talent at a position or two. Get in and you might just win a game or 4. In that light, our self ban last year was a substantial penalty. Look in hind-sight: if we self banned this year the day before the ACC tournament, people would have said we were gaming the system. It would have cost us a FF.

The difference between us and UNC and just about any other big state school is that we admit to all these relatively minor infractions and then hope for mercy from the NCAA. The other schools admit to nothing, giving the NCAA a much easier time to lessen or remove their sanctions. Their investigative powers are almost nil. No way they would they ever find if these incidents happen at other schools. (They most assuredly do). They're using our ammo to shoot us with.

According to Roy the ncaa isn't going to punish them...at least not men's hoops

I think the argument is that because other non-athlete students participated in the fake classes and program, the athletes did not receive an "extra" benefit that was not available to other non athletes. As such, it is not an NCAA issue.

Oklahoma lost by 44 points. Forty four. Not sure it was so obvious we were the worst of the four teams.

The difference is that we chose to face penalty early for things we did. They are choosing to add punishment for things their women's team did to give their men's team a chance at a title.

Not to mention we self-reported and banned ourselves (I know, I know), while they are still saying the men's team did nothing wrong on the eve of the championship game.

We dictated our penalty for the ban. We chose 2015. We gamed the system in that regard. We earned this year results with our performance but we totally gamed the system. If you plead nolo you don't get to tell the judge when you will be penalized. The judge determines it.

Just like Louisville this year they are gaming the system and trying to mitigate the long term hit. There is nothing wrong with admitting we got off lucky. 2015 didn't have the nonconference wins 2016 had. We got off easy but we definitely took a short term hit. We were just lucky we only had 1 Senior hurt.

Oklahoma was a better team. We were a 10 seed who earned its Final Four and Oklahoma was a top 10 team all year.
In a 1 game scenario anybody can beat anybody.

Syracuse fought the ban as hard as they could. We had people on this board telling us that no ban was a nonstarter. Thus, 2015 basketball team fell on a grenade to save the Lydon/Richardson/Diagne recruiting class.

If the penalty was coming down during the 25-0 start in the 2014 season we don't self ban we take the ban in 2015.

We did what was smart. Just admitting this isn't wrong.
