So who made out better, Jay Bromley or Ishaq Williams?

Yeah, because the overall talent levels on ND's vs SU's are so close. SU recruits over 5 star DE's every year.

I'll try to make this simple. At ND he's just another guy competing for PT with similarly talented guys.

At SU the starting DE's are 2 and 3 star kids that are limited in ways and the starting outside LB's are a converted WR that is maybe 215 and a sub six foot kid from Ga that has trouble playing in space. I'm sure he would have the same struggle getting on the field here as he does at ND.

Chandler Jones and Justin Pugh were 2 star kids and first round draft picks. Your point makes no sense. How they are rated in HS means very little, you should know better than that. I don't think ND has a great talent level. Look at the the last ten years. Other than last year( A lucky fluke) they havent been that great. SU would beat them this year and I think they would have last year as well. ND isn't Clemson.

Aug 30 FAU Miami won 34-6 Gus Edwards 6-19

Sept 7 Florida Mami won 21-16 DNP

Sept 21 vs Savannah State Miami won 77-7 Gus had 12 carries 113 yards he had 3 TD's
1 yd TD
3 yd TD
9 yd TD

Miami beat USF 49-21 Edwards had 10 carries 53 yards

Miami beat Georgia Tech Oct 5 45-30 Gus DNP

Miami over UNC 27-23 Gus had 1 carry no yards
Edwards is an interesting case. If he had come to SU his only playing time would have been on special teams unless he moved to LB then he might've gotten some time as a true frosh but not very likely. With Smith, Gulley, Moore, McFarlane and Morris he wouldn't have been getting any PT at RB. At Miami he is the 3rd RB behind 2 sophs. He is the big back. He is playing the role this year he might've played next year at SU. He definitely will be recruited over at Miami (they've already signed a 4 star from Miami Central). But as a true frosh he is getting time as the big back when there are seniors his size that are not. So his early PT at Miami is a combo of opportunity and ability. He may never be the #1 back at Miami but I think it is pretty evident he will be one of the Miami RB's who play for the next 3+ years. He was also one of 3 true frosh RB's this year but is the only one playing, mainly due to his size which is what will keep him in the rotation. I'd say Gus made a good decision if he wanted to keep playing RB.

This is what happens when parents don't know the difference between guiding and demanding.

Remeber Robert Nkemdiche, the consensus top recruit in the nation? He was committed and wanted to attend Clemson, his mother forced him to go to Ole Miss. He has zero sacks, truly a forced to be reckoned with. Congratulations, mom. You forced your son out of attending a far superior institution both academically and athletically, and you've forced him into the poorest and most backward state in the union.
Isn't this the opposite of Ishaq's situation? Not that I'm equilibrating SU and Old Miss, but the player chose the less prestigious college that should've provided a better chance to get on the field (and I think he has family at Ole Miss too, IIRC). So he did what we wanted Ishaq to do and it still hasn't worked out.

Others who have "jilted" us in recent years such as DaQuan Jones at Penn State and Dominique Easley at Florida have had significant success though... think of that DL if we were able to land those guys. DaQuan Jones, Dominique Easley, Jay Bromley, and Ishaq Williams would have been a decent front 4...

In this case it does. If he would have came to Syracuse he would have been given every chance in the world to succeed. Their would almost be a sort of pressure on him playing. At very worst your going to get your opportunities to win the job since those were our prime recruiting grounds. Going all the way out to Indiana to play on a team full of 4 and 5 stars your literally just another guy, who the staff has no obligations on playing since they only hit the area for 1 recruit every couple years. Big difference with this case.

...but in a basketball it's the complete opposite. Funny.

At least with basketball there are way less scholarships allotted. You may be one deep, but you'll get a real chance.

His career at ND isn't done yet.

Honestly IDGAF what these kids do when they don't pick us. But I really can't fault someone for going to a place like ND where he could be set even if he never plays a down of football again.

If it was my kid and I didn't have a dog in the fight I'd probably do the same.

I don't know IW. But it occurs to me that for some players it may be easier to fail quietly at a big prestigious school than to fail loudly at a "local" school...

IW thought he was going to be a stud no matter where he played. And his decision was that for a football career, it was better to be a stud at ND than at SU. It is no different from forwards in basketball who decide it is better to take a chance on SU even if they may have to sit than be the 4 year star at Seton Hall.

Isn't every high school phenom being recruited thinking they are going to be a stud no matter where they go?
