good lord.

and ill take indiana's offense any day of the week and 2x on saturdays v most teams in the country.

Good defenses don't get half a Hundo hung on no matter who it is

Kaiser, I see you are your usual cheery, polite self this morning. Did you forget that Allen couldn't move the ball against Wagner, either?
that was pretty bad.

im going with nerves. he was scared that he was going to lose his job...and he did.

What were those 5 big bodies doing the first 2 games then? The amount of yardage Hunt has picked up on the ground himself is more then the difference Allen would give you through the air. It's like everyone forgot just how bad the first 2 games were. When he wasn't getting passes batted back in his face or throwing them out of bounds when trying to go up the sidelines he was throwing them to the other team

-
When we have 2 rbs that can run we need a qb to keep the def from crowding the line. Look what happens when a team crowds the line and dares hunt to pass the ball. BTW allen had 4 drops in his half.

What have you seen from Allen? How quickly people forget him getting booed off the field after going 3 and out 3 straight times vs Wagner. It's like everyone has ammesia

In Allen I see a guy that can throw the ball more then 10 yards. But I didn't say I wanted to start Allen either. I actually want to go with Wilson.

Someone better get him some Xanax then because if he couldn't get a first down against Wagner , nervous or not, he's not the guy. I mean even Hunt as bad as he is had a field day against them.

So he couldn't get a first down against Wagner and he didn't cross the 40 in garbage time against GT. Ya that's our guy right there

yep. imagine how aweful hunt is then.

actually, dont imagine...just look at millhouse's new thread.

I agree. Stick with Hunt. For years we have yelled when we went with a bad senior instead of giving a lower classmen the experience. We finally are doing that. It may be for the future and not for this season. I also am not opposed, at this point, with a 2 QB system for the remainder of the season. Not before this point, but now it may be starting to make sense for us.

If anyone knows how to get rid of that dash, let me know. The new tapatalk release came with it as part of their out of the box solution.

As for the QB back and forth, I saw Millhouse's stat that Hunt's rating is half that of Pete Thomas (one of the worst QB performances I've ever had the displeasure of watching). I'm without speech. Put me in the camp now that says he's not THAT fast. If he were Pat White with the same passing stats, I'd say leave him in there for this year.

A problem without a solution is like a bathroom without toilet paper.

Allen brings nothing imo. I expect a lot more from someone w/ his experiene. The light can still go on for Hunt he is still a first year starter and their is still signs of talent their.

I think we need to be a little more patient w/ Hunt

This. Rewatched the first 3-4 series and Hunt and the offense were fine - aside from penalties. I think the staff went with Allen in the second half because we had to pass a lot to try to comeback. If we're even at the half, we might have run with them.

Game got out of hand and we're not a passing team - with either QB.

I asked this during the Wagner game. Why did we use a different offense for Allen's 3 series than we did for Hunts? One simple example, the others are more subtle, is that Smith ran the ball once in those 3 series. When Hunt came in, he ran 4 of the first 5 plays.

As to GT, that is one time I will say the WR's played a big role with 4 drops. Also, we didn't end a drive past the GT 40 the whole game but both got past it once. Hunts ended in an INT and return and Allen's ended at the 45 after a 15 yd penalty.

Hunt has zero business being d1 qb. Wilson and Kimble were projects coming in. You can't play those guys this year. They aren't developed enough and they will be ruined. Ie arob. McDonald is going no where. The guy can recruit. We gave Hackett a chance and he become a good play caller. It takes time. It we go with Allen they need to get west running shorter routes the guy should not be down field. Send clark or kobena down field. They are faster. West is a possession receiver. Allen is the better of the two qbs hands down. But for whatever reason hunt seems to command the team better. You can't give up on a season at the half way point. We are three wins away from a bowl and we have a pretty good shot still even though a lot of the "loyal" supporters on this site are ready to call it quits. Stay the course it will get better.

I do not get why giving Wilson or Kimble a chance equals giving up on the season. Look at Hunt's numbers they can not do worse and would probably be an improvement. I think starting Hunt is giving up on the season and settling for poor QB play. Play Wilson or Kimble and having them turn around and hand off every play is equal to playing Hunt so it can not get worse.

I have to believe that if the coaches had any hope in those guys right now they would play them. These guys like their jobs and aren't totally brain dead. If Shafer thinks they aren't ready then they aren't ready and that good enough for me.

Two Questions then:

1- If they were not brain dead (a term I hate I only used it because you did) why did they switch to a 3-4 D against a read option. That is awful. Who ever thought that was a good idea I have serious questions about.
2- What from Hunt does Shafer see that says he is ready? Is it his record low QB rating?

Like I said the freshman can't do any worse than what Hunt has done the last couple games.

That 3-4 was a stupid move I agree.

I just can't see those guys being any better. All out options this year aren't good plus our receivers are awful. Our best receiver this year has been clark. The guy has disappeared in a few games and is a shrimp.

I kind of agree... play them both. They both have some strengths (certainly some weaknesses). The last three weeks have been pretty bad, but then again so were the first two. The only issue I see with this is that the game plan is a bit different with each guy, and we have had enough issues coming up with one coherent game plan. Sit them down, tell them they are both going to play and split the reps in practice. Have packages for each guy. I guess it can't be worse...

i'd be ok with a rotation. something fixed not just based on who's hot. remember allen is gone next season. hunt needs work. i'd say start hunt for 2 series. sub in allen for 1. then back to hunt for 2 .allen 1. takes all the pressure off allen and lets hunt have a look see from the sidelines.

hunt is someplace between the last 3 games and his first 2-
he could be a serviceable qb if developed-these 2 kids coming in will likely redshirt

like the staff the kid is letting the pressure get to him by not letting the game flow with him-

you have a staff thats so scared of 1 team they work on them for months and change who they are with disastrous results

this week off will do more good than just about anything if shafer calms down
