Leads us down the field and Kimble comes in for RedZone????

Makes sense.

I'd love to see Kimble get some time. Great idea. BUT now when Wilson has just led the team down field!!! Whoever came up with that idea shoudl be fired now, Take them off the sideline and have them escorted off campus. :bang:

The amount of dumb moves that have been made this year in terms of what players are on the field is crazy. D-1 football, and we sub like there's a pop warner minimum play requirement.

Well at least we are finding some useful things out.

1. Kimble is not the qb of the future
2. Wilson is not the qb of the future
3. Hunt most likely is not the qb of the future.
4. AJ jury is still out, but pretty clear he isn't going to be a qb on a team can that win big.

I said it before half joking, but I would bring in 3 qb's this class.

2-star QB's at best with Wilson's other offer from EMU and Kimble with several FCS schools. Don't think AJ is the answer either. You are who you recruit...

We got a regular Lombardi walking our sideline. Didn't ya know? I don't get it. Wilson has the offense moving, oh wait...let's take him out! Unreal

Now if this were baseball, changing between Wilson and Kimble would make sense. You could really see the change in velocity between the two arms. The batters timing would be off. The only problem is this ain't baseball. ;)

People are forgetting about all the other times we roared into the red zone and didn't score. The choruses of TRY SOMETHING. our passing game giving us no touchdowns. So they put in a QB that can run.

They should be shot!

they worked on a package to try and score in the RZone. are they not supposed to try and run plays they think will work? first time he missed the throw, the 2nd time we scored..

That's about it. We've done nothing in the redzone all year. They went with a package that calls for the WB to be able to run the ball. Didn't work out. But at least we tried something different since we haven't had success there at all regardless of QB.

just another indication of poor coaching, no other excuse can be made in that situation.

It looked to me they had a predetermined plan of doing this but imo the flow was really going well with Wilson and sometimes you have to put aside your plan when things are going well. That is coaching and getting a feel for what is happening. I understand the move due to the short field and Kimbles running ability but it was a poorly timed one.

I don't know how you can say that. Especially since AJ is a true frosh QB that was supposed to redshirt this year.

Agreed. It's hard to judge him - he's the kind of kid who gets better each year in the program. Plus, while height will always be an issue - I'd bet his work ethic extends to the weight room.

What did you think when Kimble made the red zone play in the third quarter? Perhaps the coaches had the feel of what was happening?
There is a beautiful element to second guessing.

My point is that the offense was moving smoothly and the move to put a qb into the game for the first time in his career was game planned ahead and sometimes you have to see the flow and go with it. I understand the move as I wrote because of Kimbles running and ball faking ability and short field/red zone. Is it possible that Wilson would have bogged down and that is what happened in practice time and time again...maybe and yes it is a second guess. I would have loved to have seen Shafer have some faith in Wilson to get the job done and prove it on the field vs Duke before making that call. I also understand the patch work the offense has to use as well due to injuries.

Austin Wilson has made enough high quality throws , several on the first drive against Duke , that teams who want a pro set or pass first offense would want him to transfer in. That is what he should do.

I would agree with that with one exception. If Lester changes the offense to something more like Hackett's last season, he would be good - just like Nassib.

Agree. I like the way he passes. He has the accuracy to locate the ball where only the receiver can catch it , with real velocity on it. The other QB's throw in the direction of the receiver.
