Westry was ranked by RSCI at 33rd overall. It is exceedingly rare for a guard with poor shooting to be ranked this high.

Coming out of high school, Westry was like the anti-Bell.

He couldn't shoot, but could do literally everything else well. He was a lock down defender, at 6'5 could defend the other teams best player at positions 1-3 and had legit point guard skills.

Now, who knows if he'll ever fully recover.
Even if he's completely healthy and hasn't lost some of his athleticism... Not only has he been injured for two years, developing the rust that comes with extended time off, Westry has missed extremely important development time.

Hopefully he can be a contributor at some point this year, and a rotation player next year? It would be just too much to ask for him to become the guy we anticipated pre injuries.

Does anyone know how realistic/foolish it might be to hold out hope that Chance could win the PG job this year? I have read insider thoughts posted here, and listened to the coaches, but I still don’t really understand. Not healthy, or just not able to win the job yet because of rust etc? I know Jake has said anything we get from him this year is gravy… Otherwise I’m really struggling to see how we turn this around so far.. and I haven’t seen him play in years either so obviously have no clue.
