So...

So you are saying Cherie and the Michigan guy trashed you or are you saying they were trashed as well? Anyway, if the Michigan guy trashed you, just respond that the brick practice facility in Ann Arbor looks like a storage building for construction equipment. This is true, by the way.

That aside, let me share a story with you. Around 1994 I made a prediction on the old AOL board that I thought we would have a hard time against a particular team. BEES responded with something like “gee, I don’t know. You really think so?”

I was emotionally destroyed by his dismissal. Then he mentioned that Quinton Spotwood was injured and he was going to share it with the world. I begged him to reconsider, largely because this was 1994 we’re talking about and Spot was several years away from even setting foot on campus. I had no idea who he was talking about.

As it turned out I was right, but it took me 25 years of therapy to let it go. It has been a long road and it involved a lot narcotics or alcohol or something. I lost my job, I lost my family, and I can’t seem to find my car keys at the moment. It is all kind of a blur. I urge you to let it go as well. Don’t walk the path I walked.

One harmless internet post about a practice injury led to the “media can watch jumping jacks for 10 minutes before practice” era we find ourselves in today. Thanks Bees.

Also, your timeline is a little off, Spotwood didn’t arrive until 96, injury was in 98. So you won’t be able to get your 25 year chip at the 12 step meeting just yet. Stay the course though!

I wish I knew real history as well as useless SU football history. More curse than gift.

That really was a pivotal moment though where the internet was recognized as a real thing of consequence.

I think it was Cherriehoops and SU2NASA... my posts earlier this year that we'd go 3-9 were just horrendous... I still claim I was judging what I saw... what a terrible opinion. I dont want to bring it up but I was so vehemently trashed earlier this year for saying the same thing, so I feel like I have to... again not pessimistic... realistic

BEES emotionally destroyed me in 1994, so it has been 25 years. Also, I did mention that it would be several more years before Spot set foot on campus.

So I am right and you had no need to verbally abuse me in such a callous manner. I demand an apology, Chip.

If it was 1994 I'm guessing both you and Bees were dressed like this during said exchange...

I take great pride in knowing that a single post of mine changed the entire landscape of college football resulting in all teams closing their practices with the exception of short look in’s. I should be in the CFB HOF.

You’re on my Mount Rushmore.

You may be right but nobody wants to hear it.

Can you bump the thread or at least copy/paste what you said? I'm more curious to find out what it is you saw that others didn't see. Saying "I told you so" doesn't bother me, especially when grown men are so bothered by opinions they don't like. Everyone should probably pay more attention to what you see in next year's camp.

I support it.

The lesson the be learned here is we need to stop ripping people who disagree with us up front. I am not a super fan of OPs style with this post, but his base point has something to it and that is- no one knows, and the dissenting opinion of any one person does not mean that it will become fact. Let people disagree. If 99 people think X and 1 thinks Y, it does not make Y any more likely to happen.

A quick message to the OP...I am going to cut you a little slack for a simple reason. Yeah, we could still win a few more games so your post is premature but you and I both know how the season is likely to end, so...

Now, I know what you are saying; why should I listen to a guy who, for various reasons, only posts a couple of times every two years?

See? You got one more thing right!

The thing is, who among us has not posted something on the internet and then got steamed up over the criticism from the less visionary? I myself suffer from Irish Alzheimer's: "I forget everything except the grudges."

Still...in order to pat yourself on the back/get your revenge on the less-enlightened, you have to use finesse.

I have no idea how to do that. Perhaps you could use a burner account to copy and paste your original prediction and say "wow, this guy really called it correctly!"

I have no idea how to create a burner account either. I mean, I know in theory but I assume that the mods would look at my ISP and say "hey! SUstud44 is actually Dick in MI! We will expose him to his everlasting humiliation. At my age I can only take just so much more sorrow. So to be totally anonymous I would have to buy a second computer and a second ISP and frankly thanks to the ACC and Comcast my children's' inheritance is already being blown on streaming to see SU games.

But you get the idea. It isn't wrong for someone to want to remind people that they were right. But you have to do it the right way or else it just makes everything worse. If it is any consolation, I thought we'd go about 6-6. I never bought into the whole "Tommy is going to throw for 5000 yards" or "the LB's are going to surprise us" or "the OL is going to "play the actual sport of football" "
