So...

The lesson the be learned here is we need to stop ripping people who disagree with us up front. I am not a super fan of OPs style with this post, but his base point has something to it and that is- no one knows, and the dissenting opinion of any one person does not mean that it will become fact. Let people disagree. If 99 people think X and 1 thinks Y, it does not make Y any more likely to happen.

It’s more a case of someone being too sensitive, IMO. If you have a take and it’s counter-narrative you should expect feedback (ie ripping)... Sometimes you’re right, sometimes you’re wrong. Roll with it. Can’t be too upset if you truly believe what your saying.

I famously had Shafer’s back after the ISIS comments and was wrong. Guy was losing it. I also thought we’d throttle Maryland. It happens. Have conviction, admit when you’re wrong.

I also have been very pro-Ward in that I thought it stylistically fit nice with the offense (get up, play zone, force TO). Last year it worked, this year not so much - I’m hoping for a more aggressive style DC to match with the O. I was wrong. I don’t regret my conviction from before.

You are amazing.

(s)he needs to dig into the drawer and dig out the
IT'S HARD TO BE HUMBLE WHEN YOU'RE AS AWESOME AS I AM t-thirt now!

Unless it's in the laundry.
In which case, go find one of the backup T-shirts - of which there are likely several.

I think it was Cherriehoops and SU2NASA... my posts earlier this year that we'd go 3-9 were just horrendous... I still claim I was judging what I saw... what a terrible opinion. I dont want to bring it up but I was so vehemently trashed earlier this year for saying the same thing, so I feel like I have to... again not pessimistic... realistic
When you bring up your own prediction, especially in these circumstances you come off as kind of a dweeb.

Can you bump the thread or at least copy/paste what you said? I'm more curious to find out what it is you saw that others didn't see. Saying "I told you so" doesn't bother me, especially when grown men are so bothered by opinions they don't like. Everyone should probably pay more attention to what you see in next year's camp.
If course it might be that a blind squirrel even ...The prediction was illogical based on every thing that was known. Not one college football expert had us going completely backwards. You pissed into the wind and it miraculously missed you.

One harmless internet post about a practice injury led to the “media can watch jumping jacks for 10 minutes before practice” era we find ourselves in today. Thanks Bees.

Also, your timeline is a little off, Spotwood didn’t arrive until 96, injury was in 98. So you won’t be able to get your 25 year chip at the 12 step meeting just yet. Stay the course though!

I wish I knew real history as well as useless SU football history. More curse than gift.

I was at the scene of that crime. I told him it was a bad idea.

Hmmmm while i don't agree with the I told you so premise of the OP, I get where he's coming from. When I called out this team after the 2nd or 3rd game, I was told it's way too early, I don't know what I'm talking about, that I should just stop posting about SU football, blah, blah, blah. Like Cusian said though, i expected the flak, and now I take no great feeling of victory knowing that I saw this disaster as it was leaving port. Some of you all, you know who, need to realize that you don't know everything about SU football either and attacking people for posting things you don't like is silly. I believe a VERY well respected poster claimed that no changes would be made to the staff, and then less than 24 hours later, Buh-bye Ward. I think alot of people in here need an ego check.

The way this was done in the original post is odd for sure but I can understand the point. Don't get upset or take it personally when some make predictions you deem "negative" or "hating".

Reality is nobody knows what is going to happen game to game, especially over the course of an entire season.

A quick message to the OP...I am going to cut you a little slack for a simple reason. Yeah, we could still win a few more games so your post is premature but you and I both know how the season is likely to end, so...

Now, I know what you are saying; why should I listen to a guy who, for various reasons, only posts a couple of times every two years?

See? You got one more thing right!

The thing is, who among us has not posted something on the internet and then got steamed up over the criticism from the less visionary? I myself suffer from Irish Alzheimer's: "I forget everything except the grudges."

Still...in order to pat yourself on the back/get your revenge on the less-enlightened, you have to use finesse.

I have no idea how to do that. Perhaps you could use a burner account to copy and paste your original prediction and say "wow, this guy really called it correctly!"

I have no idea how to create a burner account either. I mean, I know in theory but I assume that the mods would look at my ISP and say "hey! SUstud44 is actually Dick in MI! We will expose him to his everlasting humiliation. At my age I can only take just so much more sorrow. So to be totally anonymous I would have to buy a second computer and a second ISP and frankly thanks to the ACC and Comcast my children's' inheritance is already being blown on streaming to see SU games.

But you get the idea. It isn't wrong for someone to want to remind people that they were right. But you have to do it the right way or else it just makes everything worse. If it is any consolation, I thought we'd go about 6-6. I never bought into the whole "Tommy is going to throw for 5000 yards" or "the LB's are going to surprise us" or "the OL is going to "play the actual sport of football" "

This is the content I come here for.

It turned out to be a much more enjoyable thread than I would have predicted when I saw the OP.

indeed, still waiting for your mea culpa re:Chris Ash loldescription.
boring. however i believe that you r one of the posters that who fit op's (and mine) description. actually your continued references to rutgers in regard to me, (which are largely inaccurate) makes the op point.
by the way i supported the hiring of the basketball coach. more than anything else--was that wrong to do???? omg, through my fault, through my fault through most grievous fault.
now, what is your excuse--to much time on your hands?

I think alot of people in here need an ego check.
It’s an internet forum - no chance of that happening. We might as well all be comparing dick sizes.

Here's what I want to know - did the OP submit their prediction for the Cali awards?

Because if they didn't, they deserve NOTHING.
I scrolled back through the submissions. Worst record anyone had was 7-5, and most had 10 wins. Just shows how group think can go wrong. Consider me guilty as well. I didn't submit, but would have likely been one of the 10 win hopefuls...

It sounds to me like the OP needs to be held ACCOUNTABLE for not putting their prediction in the Cali thread.

Who gives a ? It’s a message board prediction thread.

I didn’t want to bring it up but I am going to start this thread about how right my prediction that we’d be 3-9 was that by the way I didn’t want to bring up.

But seriously guys, I didn’t want to bring it up.
Would this be a good time for me to dredge up my preseason “time to hit the breaks - irrational exuberance” thread?

You're the best!!!! LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME!!!! Hope you feel better.

HOT TAKE alert

No, this is exactly *my* point. If you have a take, make it, say it with conviction. If it's out there, expect flak if it's the opposite of the common wisdom - but then, this is the important part - own up to when you're wrong. That's it. That's the whole game.

What you don't do, is have a take, get ruffled by the people who disagree with you so much that you make a point to come back to say "hey, I was right" in the way the OP did.
