Something is not right

So he was a great kid for 18 years and then in the 12 months or so that he was in Syracuse surrounded by the coaches and teammates he then turned into a piece of garbage and then continued to do the same at Blinn?

There were kids I was a freshman with that were good guys but decided to major in partying and weren’t around a year later. It happens.

Think Chad Kelly made it to at least year 3 and he's an all-timer.

Chad Kelly May have actually been going to class. Yeah he’s a complete -up but being a -up and actually making it to class, staying eligible, gives the coaches the opportunity to give you 60 chances. If you can’t stay eligible there’s only so much a coaching staff can do.

At this pace with 5 or more commits we’ll be a top 45 class, assuming we get Bleich.

Bleich isn’t in this recruiting class. He’s a transfer.

Not you, but i don’t know why everyone is being so sensitive. There is nothing wrong with people feeling that this recruiting class, and the pace we are on is disappointing considering what we were thinking it would be after last years 10 win season. I realize a lot has happened since then , but not acknowledging we have had miss after miss, is just not wanting to admit or you’re not paying attention. It’s my opinion , but I was much more excited with Babers previous classes. I think if you go back and compare the offer lists that will tell you the story. The one thing I do like is the Canadians. I do think there is some talent up there that is relatively untapped and a little easier to recruit . Plus we actually have distance from home in our favor.

With that said , IMO, we to hit some absolute home runs to close this class. Otherwise I would compare this to some of Marrone’s classes (who I actually think are underrated compared to perception, but admittedly top heavy and full of developmental players).

My question to the sky is falling folks is this:

If we had landed two of Tyler Van Dyke, Akheem Mesidor, Kentron Poitier, and James Pogorelc, would you be happy with the class?

The answer is undoubtedly yes. While the staff missed on a big QB, we have a very strong middle of the class. I think Alford was a bigger land than Poitier, and the other three we identified very early and were unlucky that they blew up like they did. All of the guys listed were so close to committing before getting offers that tilted the board.

This class has a lot of good football players that will make an impact here. Unfortunately, the top of the class is weaker than we would have liked, but when you recruit the top guys, you need to have a great season to get them in, especially at a school with the natural disadvantages SU faces when compared to its peer schools.

I was bummed about Kentron, but really the only worrying thing to me is the lack of a QB.

I don't know why that's been such a struggle. I am hoping it makes us a better destination for transfer portal QBs though. There are going to be good players there. We need to find one somewhere.

Well of course. You land those 4 guys listed and it changes my opinion completely. Right there are 3 guys at the most important positions and the other would have been the highest ceiling guy in the class. You land those 4 and it’s right on par with prior years , probably a little better.

It’s more changing how the administration wants to invest in school and where our goals are. We talk about how bad our facilities and stuff are in various areas. We need to change the mindset that it’s good enough and instead start to invest and I think it’s almost there
START to invest? What exactly are you looking for and what would you consider a start? A new IPF? New meeting rooms? New coaches center? Fancy new apartments? Upgrades to the Dome?
How much money do you require and how much do you think SU has?
A lot of people think SU has access to an unlimited supply of capital.

Germany lost the war the moment the invasion of Normandy was successful. Japan finally surrendered because Russia declared war on them. They didn't want to be invaded by Russia. They knew what that meant. Your point might be valid if Germany didn't have to fight a two front war. As did we, I might add.
I didn’t mean to imply that crystal meth lost the war. It was just an element that played a part in him going crazy. Maybe, for instance, if he didn’t overextend into Russia they would have been able to withstand the Normandy invasion. Lots of what ifs.

Still need to get an OC who will find a way to get maximum use out of Jawar Jordan. I don't think Lynch is the person for the job.

Having a tough time understanding why all of a sudden Jawar Jordan is now the chosen one? Can he be really good? Sure but I think people are getting carried away here as if the offense will run through him next year. You are still going to have a RB position with 3 running backs getting carries. Are we really trying to hire a new OC for one running back who at this point is still a relatively unproven commodity? my head is really starting to hurt and I don't think Lynch is going anywhere anyway

Didn't he have to extend into Russia for the natural resources since they where running out of fuel?
Wasn't he unreachable (aka sleeping) for most of D-Day?

Nazis didn't think we were going to invade, the weather was bad. Just visited Normandy, the general understanding is that they were a few months away from making the beaches totally secure. Still amazing what our troops did when you actually stand there.

Dino is pretty bullish on this class. I wonder if he really feels this way or if it’s just for the media.
I mean ratings aside, its bigger size and a continuation of more speed. There’s also several prospects that could play multiple positions. I like the ceiling and versatility of this group. The only immediate plug-in’s I see are LaBrosse and potentially Wax or Thompson. Thankfully this class should be able to redshirt.

enormously concerning we dont have a QB commit

Yes his advisors were not supposed to wake him before a certain hour.

Did they need Russia for resources? Yes but at that point in the war it was more of a strategic initiative to supply further expansion of their war machine. It wasn't so critical that they had to advance in the midst of harsh siberian conditions where the enemy had natural turf advantages. Had they waited until summer who knows...

Yeah, the extent to which those schools have hurt us is hard to deny. It's also worth noting that BC went in the tank for a while after the gambling scandal, Rutgers was brutal in the Graber (I think that was his name) era, Pitt was struggling, Temple was an absolute joke and UConn essentially didn't exist (I know they suck now but they hurt us at times when Edsall was doing well with that program). Maryland more or less sucked as well until the Fridge era.

So, yeah, it's an uphill battle.

Yep, we had the shiny Dome and a LOT less sharks in the water.

Millhouse has been saying for years that we needed to go all in on an offensive identity that exploited the Dome and gave us an edge and an advantage. Half of us said he was right, half said he was crazy, and half said he was right and he's crazy.

We're going to need more though. Athletic village type stuff, without those awful couches with the wooden arm rests at South Campus. To quote Animal House, "we need the dues"

Or, had they not had to divert troops to fix the mess the Italians made in Greece, they may have broken Russia before winter.

That is all you can do. 6 months ago we had a lot of talent because we won 10 games the year before. How did we do that? we did it with a very strong senior leadership and kids that were all in the same mold of the kids who have signed today from a profile viewpoint. Just have to hope for 100% buy in and that they get better every year. When we have a strong senior class full of 22 and 23 year old program kids we will be fine when we don't it could be a struggle. Go back and look at the 2012 and 2018 teams, great teams with a ton of overachieving seniors with great leadership who set the culture at least for that year.
Hopefully what we will see sooner rather than later is that there isn't much variance from one senior class to the next. A program that relies heavily on developing players with potential needs consistently strong senior classes.

Isn't siberia much farther east?
