Sorry Nate Mink

LOL not what I was saying. Look at the QBs Dino has brought in over the last 3 years. Notice anything?? Shrader is the first one with P5 talent that he's brought in.
Marrone brought in one in 4 years. Shafer brought in one in 3 years.

DeVito, Shrader, Morgan, Lamson - stories not written yet

What ? You are sure that Morgan, Marcewiecz, and Lamson don’t have are not P5 talent . That’s amazing , I kind thought I might give them a year or two.

Morgan had 1 P5 offer (Cuse), Dillon had 1 P5 offer (plus Boise), Lamson had 2 P5 offers (Louisville and Cuse) plus a Boise offer. So, outside of Cuse, these three QB had ONE P5 offer. Dino hitched his wagon to TD and he's going to sink or swim with him (probably sink). Shrader is the first kid with P5 talent that Dino has brought in and he was available because his previous school thought he was better suited as a WR, not a QB. So, you tell me. How much talent has been in that QB room under HCDB??

See my other response on the talent level of these kids, as viewed by other P5 programs.

Perhaps a bit early to make such a blanket statement, don't you think?
No, I don't think it's too early. There is a trend in the QBs that HCDB has brought in after he landed TD.

GS had tons of P5 offers and Joe Moorhead thought he was good enough to play QB in the SEC.

Just bc Mike Leach didn't, who btw isn't exactly a genius, doesn't mean GS can't play P5 QB. It means he didn't fit Leach's system at all.

GS had more P5 offers and interest than Tommy by a country mile.

Absolutely true. Recruiting QBs has been poor. I don’t thinks anyone questions that. Aimee was a bust, or a head case, not sure which. All of that ultimately falls on the head coach. Though in fairness, a couple of assistants have probably lost their jobs because of it. I think it’s inaccurate to say it wasn’t “addressed.” That makes it sound like willful negligence. It was just unsuccessful. They had lots of misses on good players. I don’t think it was for lack of trying.

Oh and the jury is still out on Markiewicz, Morgan and Lamson, all of whom have plenty of time to prove themselves.

You left off Tommy. He committed early, but I seem to remember interest from other p5 schools.

And my point, was that we’ve not exactly been killing QB recruiting for 25 years. I think Dino’s about par for the course and I want to say we can do better, but history paints a bleak picture

I don't disagree on anything said about Shrader. I think GS should be given the job now. We know what TD is and is not. There may be some more upside with GS but we will never see it.
My point with GS was more that he's a reclamation and not someone that will threaten TD (in DB's eyes, at least).

Agreed. We got REALLY lucky w Nassib, and with Dungey.

Both dramatically outplayed their recruiting rankings for us.

Tommy was an Elite Eleven QB, and had he not committed so early to us, he absolutely would have had a boatload more high P5 offers -
he even told ATM "thanks, but no thanks" when they sniffed around after he'd committed to Cuse.

They may be good players, but I'd be willing to wager it won't be in a Cuse uniform.

In all honesty, I don't really care what the reason is, Dino has yet to find a QB since Dungey left. All I've heard about with Dino was his prolific offenses at BG and EI. All I have seen have been flat-lined moribund offenses with little adjustments over the last 3 years. He can quote Gladiator and every other movie all he wants, but he hasn't proven a damn thing. Oh, and just a side note... Jimmy G was already at EI, just like ED was already at Syracuse when he took over. There is a pattern with HCDB.

I’m not betting against Lamson, or Shrader for that matter.

As far as the rest of it, as you said, you “don’t really care.” I do.

Shrader will never start here, he will be gone by the end of the year.

Now do a list of Syracuse HCs that have inherited a QB from a fired HC and won 10 games

We are barely even talking about the joy of college football here. So much soap opera dynamics. Not accusing anyone of anything. It's just the state of the program and it sucks. That non-performance at the Rutgers game really took the wind out of my SU sails.

I'd rather we were enthusiastically discussing how Alford catches anything thrown near him, or Gadsden always gets in space or Tucker might go for 200 on Sat. or some recruit who's interested in us cuz we're winning.

Nope. Instead we've got a great kid in TD who for whatever reason is not a DI-A gamer. We look askance at our coach for his dubious schemes/calls/recruiting. It's just the way it is right now, but it's been too long and seems hardly necessary.

The Rant:
Should never have fired Coach P, but aspirational Gross had visions of grandeur he was going to self-create. We were going to be USC East and involved in the "National" conversation. Coach P was so established with HS coaches (we had Ray Rice till they fired him). It's been a dismal run of bad luck. Hiring a guy (Robinson) who was out of his depth as a HC, the good and seemingly long term hire of Marrone dashed by his wife's dislike of CNY and NFL non-recruiting, Shafer (was supposed to be like the Coach P ascension) and then we land HCDB who appears to be on his way to something beyond adequate and somehow the keys are given to promising, but woefully underachieving QB - remember when TD threw that INT against Clemson in the Dome deep in Clemson territory right after Trill intercepted that pass to give us momentum before a full house. What was that and many other moments (the Maryland game that year?). Yes, much of this is self-inflicted and not all on TD. Plenty of dysfunction to go around. But from a long time fan's perspective this is simply rotten. Jake Crouthamel knew what he was doing. And yes, it was a different landscape then and maybe easier to navigate.

Remember when it was 3rd and long and you could anticipate a valiant and exciting attempt at making the first down, w/hungry, motivated and dynamic players? Now its all route tree business and check downs and uninspired attempts to achieve the objective of a first down. Hey, run around and play some ball out there.

Winning changes everything. I might think about a new hobby, cuz this is painful and kinda stupid. That not going for it on 4th down against Rutgers, just speaks volumes about faith in players, mindset of coaches and football as game to be clinically managed rather than a game to be riverboat gambled on occasion. Jesus, we were on Rutgers 42 yd line I think. Where's the advantage in gaining 18 yards and surrendering up the ball?

I liked it better when Coach Mac wore a suit and tie on the side lines. Oh wah. Thanks for the whine y'all.
The move from P To GRob and the Grob regime ended up being cringe worthy, but I sincerely wonder how things would have turned out for GRob had he been able to bring in Colt Brennan rather than Cantor rejecting him.

Haven't we lost 2 or 3 QBs to transfer, too? I don't know how any of them might be doing, but they might have helped us last year, when DeVito went down.

Notice Donna at Miami, and Nancy at Syracuse destroyed 2 football programs.

Dungy had few P5 offers. We have had a sh—load of good players that had 2 or 3 P5 offers.

There is nothing I dislike on this board more than predictions that a player is or will be disgruntled and will transfer. Especially when it is based on nothing more than the opinion of a disgruntled fan. Is that where we are here?

LOLOLOLOLOLOL Ok. Fine. Dino is doing a great job. Nothing to see here.

They have lost a couple kids, but none that would be playing.

Yup, lots of successful programs banking on the diamond in the rough. Have you ever heard the X's & O's/Jimmys & Joes. I'm sure you have heard this adage and where it ends up.
