Spitt on Pitt Postgame...

Dan Villari won’t be out QB next season and we’re not running a triple option. What the hell is going on in here today?
I don’t think anyone really expects us to become a triple option team, I just REALLY like that style of football so in moments like this I’m going to be vocal about it. I’m probably alone in my opinion about it, rest assured. Lol

We won a game against the worst team in the ACC that some highschool teams could beat, and now Dino is Syracuse's saving grace because he ran some trick plays and weird formations.

I don’t think I’ve seen a single post intimating this.

Nobody is going to bat an eye for a school firing a coach with one of the worst tenure records in the country and an incredibly bad record against ACC competition. If anything, everyone thinks we’re mismanaged because he’s still here, not because he could get fired with a winning record this year. Especially in the coaching world. This isn’t corporate America or anything close to it.

You’d assume that would be the sentiment outside of our orange bubble, but I think you’ll find a lot of the opposite, like this take from last week:

I saw this last week, that’s the only post I’ve seen from anyone I’d take seriously. So one post doesn’t make me think any differently. Also the recruiting rankings don’t support the idea he finds talent but his record in the ACC does support his recruiting record.

As absurd as those takes were, I don’t consider them complete outliers when you ask folks outside of the program what their thoughts are. Doesn’t mean they’re correct (they’re not), but that line of thinking is probably more pervasive than it should be.

Listen anytime we beat Pitt I am happy, it doesn’t happen often, that being said I don’t think we win either of the next two games if we play the same way we did today. Now if we do win the next two or even one of the two Syracuse has a real conundrum on their hands. Can u fire a 7 or 8 win coach who was dealing with injuries once again, and next year you maybe have the easiest power 5 schedule of any team? I WANT DINO FiRED, BUT if he gets to 7 or 8 wins I don’t think you can fire him IMO.

I disagree with you saying the staff is bad. Beck, Rocky, Johnson, Farmer, Ligashesky, Campanile to mention some are, IMO, great position coaches and a OC. It's Becks first year. Give him a chance.
What we saw today, taking the O and getting them into a Wildcat, and having the team get it and show it in Yankee Stadium was pretty good.

Campanile is a great recruiter, and he's just begun, the NJ pipeline where he was coach of Bergen Catholic and Don Bosco.
Disagree regarding Ligashesky. ST has been markedly worse under him compared to when Lustig was here.

We have 4 quarterbacks. Shrader, Del Rio - Wilson, MacPhail and Davis. We can't recruit? Davis stats don't seem too bad:
High School: Gatorade Delaware Player of the Year ... Led the Cavaliers to an 11-1 record and the state championship as a senior … selected for the Under Armour All-America game … Completed 114-of-156 passes for 1,872 yards and 20 touchdowns through nine games … Also rushed for 638 yards and three scores on 46 carries under coach Zach Blum … One of six members of the prestigious Franklin D. Watkins Memorial Award Class of 2022 … Ranked as the top player in the state of Delaware, the 23rd-best quarterback prospect in the country and No. 378 overall by 247Sports Composite … Considered the second-best prospect in the state by Rivals … Rated No. 237 on the ESPN300.
And yet the coaches felt they had a better chance of winning by running a wildcat offense instead of playing him.

Injuries also happen to every team. Other teams also change their gameplan and/or have other players to run a consistent game plan

No chit. We don’t have the players to run a consistent game plan. I know that’s a shocker to some.

Last week the coaches adjusted the gameplay because GS wasn’t available. Unfortunately that game plan wasn’t effective because CDRW got injured (more injuries than were visible).

This week with CDRW unavailable and GS still limited the coaches came up with a different game plan which proved to be effective. We won. We won a game that many didn’t believe we could win. Many of the “fans” here have already cashed in their chips for the season. Thank goodness the coaches and the players haven’t cashed in their chips.

Many posters here have made comments indicating they believe HCDB had lost the locker room. Well, I was there tonight and did not see a team that didn’t believe in their coaches. If this group of young men didn’t believe in these coaches they would have never been able to execute this game plan and come away with a win. I sure many her will dismiss today’s accomplishment because Pitt sux. To that I say some people will never be satisfied unless they’re miserable.

Not sure why the attitude. Not having the players is an issue. I know you don’t attribute that to Dino, I do.

I look forward to your posts the rest of the year

I can only assume when it comes to Dino that this guy is stuck in 2018. Because Dino has not been the same coach since then.

I agree, ultimately HCDB is responsible for the lack of quality players. But, this cannot be changed during the season, so HCDB and his staff adjusted their game plan based on who and what was available and did what they thought would put the team in the best position to win. Kudos to them.

Peace

Dino ain’t dead yet. Nobody wants to admit it but he ain’t dead yet. this Is why you don’t fire him until a bowl is out of the question
You think he’s going to be retained for going to back to back pinstripe bowls in years 7-8?

Playing devils advocate, of course Dino wants better players but we all know it’s hard to recruit at cuse. NIL is the great equalizer. The program needs millions and a coach that donors trust to be a steward of those funds. That’s it, otherwise it’s game over.
