Cisco is the part that scares me. Maybe there’s a grad transfer on the way that they know about. No one walks into a starting job at a position like that as an early entry true freshman.

What I would do with Rex is: Play the part Elmore had, hold snaps, be one of the 3 blockers back on punts to catch the snap to run or throw. And of course be ready to play qb if needed.

Cordy’s move makes a lot of sense actually. He’s a warrior and played the S spot well *for his size* ... but now that we have better talent starting to percolate up? Use his elusiveness work on O.

Plus at receiver, we might get a full year out of him.

Hope Black, Coleman and Berry can come back healthy...would be huge. Like the outside the box thinking on Cordy, wonder if some of the newbies on the staff pitched in with that idea or maybe even Cordy? I could see Cordy returning punts once in a while to change the pace. Cisco starting...interesting.

I think it is clear we needed to add a play maker in the slot. Neal was too valuable to move from RB. Cordy is the fastest player on the team and is probably the best athlete. Like Dino says, he is just too small and hits too hard to play on defense. He ends up hurting himself with his violent hits. Also remember that Antwan has the option of applying for a 6th season, and is expected to get that year if he wants it. I would guess after all these years of training and not getting rewarded with PT in games, he is hungry to play. I bet he becomes an important part of the offense.

The depth chart normally has 2 inside WRs and 2 outside WRs. Cordy and Riley are clearly going to play inside. Who else? Nykeim is listed with Devin Butler and with Thompson-Bishop. I am assuming this means he is going to work as an outside WR and an inside WR and that Thompson-Bishop has been moved inside (Butler is our most experienced outside WR and I don't see him doing well inside). It looks like Sharod is going to remain outside as well (can't see Custis playing inside).

I agree that a lot of this depth chart needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Injuries play a role and I think the staff sometimes omits or downgrades players to motivate them.

If you asked me which LB was the least likely to be assigned to the MIKE position, it would have been Guthrie. The linebacker competition should be fascinating to watch. There are a lot of good athletes who are closely matched.

Really interested to see where Coley ends up. Jonas is still recovering from an injury but keep an eye on him in the fall.
