Sterlin Gilbert

I wasn't impressed with the playcalling today as I'm sure others weren't also. Hopefully with a healthier O-line it improves but with our current personnel it needs to improve

He's missing two RBs that are solid players. Jordan is a change of pace guy and Pierre isn't a player. Doesn't help our balance.

Howard was the missing piece IMO. Howard to be the multi-down back that can bruise and open up yards after contact. Adams to be his back-up.

Jordan as the swiss army knife to use his speed in intriguing situations and different spots on the field. If Jordan has to be a RB only, makes it hard for him to do something with dives up the middle.

Nykeim and queely should be the top two WR's Taj just didnt impress today either we need to stop throwing sideline bombs to him and try more screens

I wouldn't hate to see that happen. Taj can be slicky which helps him out of the slot but I don't seem being a pyhsical WR

Taj was the only dude consistently open and getting his # called. Of the WR's, he wasn't the problem on this day.
Taj also quit on routes and didnt even look for the ball when he was wide open with no one ten yards around him. Sharrod also dropped that TD pass to which wasnt good

One of the things that bothered me about Dino when it was a time when we all loved everything Dino. He said he was great at clock management when we all saw that he wasn't. And that worried me. It worried me because it made me wonder if Dino could see his faults and do something about them. I'm still wondering about that.

I was watching SU vs Miami from 97 this week and chuckling at the classic P clock management issues and early timeouts that drove us nuts. Babers might honestly be worse. His clock management is the worst I can remember at SU. I have no idea what he's doing.

it can be yes, but then do you not work around the limits. we saw a glimpse with the screens and the running to the line with jordan. if your limited in blocking why run up the middle every start of the drive. why only run to the outside 3 times in a game
Just my thought but I don't think Gilbert was brought in so much as to change up the scheme but rather to help recruit and develop QBs.

Honestly, I am not a fan of the spread. We don’t have the talent to run it efficiently. All it does is cause quick 3 and outs and gas our defense. I’d rather put DeVito under center with our two tight ends out there.
Army/Navy offense would be preferable to this. DeVito is not the answer and our QB recruiting has left no other serviceable options. That’s on the coaches

Taj didn't look on 1 route where he got the ball sooner than expected. Yea, it sucks, but without Taj, the WR core, especially on the outside, would be kind of scary with what we saw today.

That would make Queeley the #1 outside WR. He got open against 2nd teamers and getting his first real run this year. Need someone to step up next to Taj.

I wouldn't mind seeing Alford, Williams and/or Pena. Thought their HS film was more advanced than the others recruiting film. Every other team has impact FR, rFR or SO. We need one of those.

And I assume both can block better than Pierre. Howard was pretty good.

If im Dino i play the young kids. Im getting each of the frosh qbs some run. Play the kids let them learn. Its a free year for the staff. Dinos job is safe. Next year if things are not significantly improved i could actually see Wild making a move.

It's only one game, but lord, he did not have a good showing. If you've been posting in real-time on Twitter and search for him, USF fans are pitying SU for having him on the staff. One of the many tweets today, this from the USF beat writer:

Have fun reading the replies.

Boy, you weren't kidding about the replies to the tweet. They keep going on and on and on --- everyone says the same thing (or an lol type response) -- Gilbert appears to be universally hated among USF Nation. Just great.

More people need to see this. Look at that box!

Well I was impressed by our 1st down play calling and also by the fact that we've cleaned up the bone head penalties especially in crucial situations. NOT. Also, at least we didn't quit like the Maryland game and played hard to the very end. NOT. They will have a very hard time winning against the spread this year, let alone the game.

Did you watch the game to say you were impressed with 1st down calls?

As much as some would like to say it's a free year, it is not a free year. You're just matching up against the conference instead of taking on a directional school to pad the win column. This is where you find out how good your program really is. They know what they can and can't do now. Wouldn't see that against Colgate. They're not leaving Chapel Hill thinking that it was a scrimmage to see where they're at. This was the punch in the face some of us said could happen when other posters were downplaying UNC. They are one year away from contending for their Division championship.
