Steve Angeli: Torn Achilles

yeah get it, me knowing this crap inside and out starting bumming as soon as I saw him down grabbing the calf knowing full well it was ova...as my posts back then suggest.

BUT hearing him interviewed and his steely demeanor along with returnees and incomings (hs recruits and likely portal too), my cup runneth over with excitement and enthusiasm for 2026. Predicting an epic year!

Lets show at least ok tommorow, beat BC and get the momentum going...
Remember I sent you an immediate DM to confirm what I also thought, but needed the experts opinion.

Next year is going to be great

There’s been lots of hushed chatter about the full extent of Angeli’s injuries. What’s the actual chance he’s able to practice without limitations in late July of next year?

I ask because we’re going to need to rebuild the QB room this offseason. I can’t imagine anyone on scholarship besides Angeli staying.

If the reality is that it’ll be a stretch for Angeli to be 100% then (1) will the staff actually acknowledge that reality, and (2) can we attract a strong portal QB who knows he’ll likely be starting game #1?

Fran told Matt Park that Angeli is ahead of schedule.

So far, Angeli said, he is two weeks ahead of schedule in his recovery. He said that puts him on track to return to the field during Syracuse’s spring practices in preparation for next year.

“By spring ball for sure,” Angeli said about his schedule to return to athletic activity. “I’ll be able to partake in practices and throw and do stuff like that. ... I’m ahead right now. I’m a couple weeks ahead of schedule.”

Angeli said he did not know if there would be any limitations on his activities or his workload during the spring. Quarterbacks traditionally wear green non-contact jerseys during the majority of those workouts.

“I just know that, projecting long-term, by spring ball, I’ll be participating in some capacity,” Angeli said.

Was told from a direct source he had and MCL and Achilles injuries. The expectation is he will be throwing in April and be fully ready by late spring/early summer. He’s ahead of schedule right now.

That’s encouraging. And also very weird considering the chatter.

If I was Fran I would be saying he's ready to go now, after witnessing this team since he got hurt. Ahead of schedule, or not, it will be a stretch for him to be 100% by the start of season. However, Fran certainly should be screaming from the roof tops that he will be ready for spring.

Hey all,
I need something to cling to throughout the rest of this season and the off and I know lots of y'all know more about sports way more than I.
So, can anyone give me an example of a football, basketball or baseball athlete that had the same injury Steve Angeli suffered and then fully rebounded in a year?
If so, did this individual return to original form after rehabilitation? How common is the injury S.A. suffered?
Does everyone here feel that with proper care Steve Angeli can return to full mobility come the 2026 football season?
Feeling really depressed right now.

Aaron Rogers has historically shown to be a mutant. I think a better comparison would be college athletes.

So, losing a QB causes the defense to give up 20 yards per carry in the first half? That's was one of the worst defensive performances you will see.
Indirectly yes.

The terminally bad qb play, so horrendous and grossly incompetent as seen by the D with the O literally giving the game away as soon as it started, then the blocked punt, seeing an almost what can be perceived as a karmatically bad bad luck day and outing from the onset, etc., it all leads to the near complete feeling of futility, learned helplessness with the mind set reality that no matter what you do on D it doesn’t matter.

Consciously aware or it not you end up playing with no fire and just go through the motions. Which leads to losing no matter what if the opponent is at least decent. 70-7 if they’re great.

I’ve lived it first hand going 3-20something the first 3 years where I played back in the Stone Age with similiar horrendously abysmal qb play including a loss like this one.

Coaches then bring in a stud all league and ultimately AA (after I graduated) qb, viola we go nearly undefeated championship type season beating the #2 team in the nation.

A good qb makes an average competent team a winning team, that good qb makes a good team great, and a great team historically elite. A bad qb makes a good team average and an average to below average team suck, give ya one guess where we’re currently at!
