That's the end zone I'm in, and it was great the whole team running our way.It wasn’t just the empty upper deck but 1/2 those in the lower level left in the 3rd quarter. But kudos to the team for celebrating in the opposite end zone after the win.
Has nothing to do with 20 yrs of history. Team was 5-2 with a respectable opponent in the house. Students have improved the last couple years but today was awful. You can't really expect 18-21 year old students to be overly execited over a product that has been bad for 20+years.
Sure I would like them to become lifelong fans but when I was their age I was in the military, and quite wild.
As the product gets better some of them will come around and bring their friends.
Excuses...it is decent this year. You can't really expect 18-21 year old students to be overly execited over a product that has been bad for 20+years.

I’m tired of hearing that excuse. Things are different now. We are good this year. Prior years don’t matter. New coach, totally revamped roster and we were 5-2 going in to today. Change the culture. If you students don’t, how do you expect the team to?You can't really expect 18-21 year old students to be overly execited over a product that has been bad for 20+years.

Soft people can’t withstand a game like last week. Seriously what a horrible take. Not every fan (student or otherwise) is able to withstand a kick in the family jewels like the Pitt game. They will learn from this. And hats off to Pitt for being able to crush our spirit like that. I mean, I hate them but gosh, job well done! See you next year!
How does the teams 20 year history have any bearing on a bunch of students, if they cared about SU football before they set foot on campus other than the COVID year they’d be aware of a team that went 10-3, 5-7, 5-7, 7-6, 6-7, not exactly horribleYou can't really expect 18-21 year old students to be overly execited over a product that has been bad for 20+years.

Yeah. That will make people want to come. The Admin would probably kick the players out of school for being mean. After the game the team should have gone over to the student section and given the middle finger to all the empty seats and unused t shirts
If you're talking about random 18-21 year olds, then yeah you're right. But students should take a little more pride in their school and support one of the most visible parts of it when it has a winning record and has a chance to get bowl eligible with more still on the table after that. You can't really expect 18-21 year old students to be overly execited over a product that has been bad for 20+years.

Great to see them celebrate in front of their families who now sit in the 100 level of the end zone on both sides of the locker room tunnel. It wasn’t just the empty upper deck but 1/2 those in the lower level left in the 3rd quarter. But kudos to the team for celebrating in the opposite end zone after the win.
Matt Park mentioned that and how disappointing the student section wasSurprised that Fran chose to play OT in the student end of the dome since it was empty. VT had to be happy with that decision.
Guilty as charged here. I was brutal and vindicative in the game thread. It's a form of therapy and cathartic to grouse in there. In some twisted and pathetic way it makes me feel better. I need professional therapy and/or medications. So we have hardened fans on this board who literally quit the team in the game threads, hammer the coaches and the players and we are now busting on the students for not showing en force? Some of the students hung around better than some in the game chat. For the most part the students have actually delivered this year.
I was at game. God I wish I took a picture. Around 3 people in the upper deck the whole game and they probably weren’t students. It wasn’t just the empty upper deck but 1/2 those in the lower level left in the 3rd quarter. But kudos to the team for celebrating in the opposite end zone after the win.
Honestly man as a "townie" who lives two hours away I'm equally shocked that college football fans in NYS don't support the program like they ought to. So I get it. All we can do is be the best fans that we can be and let people know what they're missing. As a student I want to apologize for our incompetence to wake up. I’m shocked that nobody shows up. But this year especially, everyone leaves at halftime. Sat with family today and had to look up at the eye sore. Basketball better be better
