Students No Show

Guilty as charged here. I was brutal and vindicative in the game thread. It's a form of therapy and cathartic to grouse in there. In some twisted and pathetic way it makes me feel better. I need professional therapy and/or medications.
I feel ya

Soft people can’t withstand a game like last week. Seriously what a horrible take.
I can respect the take. Not the same but if Taylor swift and kelce break up there are not teenage and twenty something girls clicking through the channels to find the KC game.

Keep winning and make it must see, not a trend bc we may be good.

To be fair being in the upperdeck doesn't feel like the student section when everyone else is in the lower. I do think that is part of the issue.

When the seating chart came out I thought they gave too much to the students. I think they should take back 325 and 330 for sure.

didn't they sell a record amount of student tickets as well this year? so many of those seats were sold and they didn't bother to show?

Personally, I think the university scheduling homecoming for Halloween weekend is not a good idea.
I agree, while students ultimately hold this tickets or sell particular ones as individuals I really blame the admin. I get that it is great to give discounts to students and have designated seating, they more or less doubled the seating and often in past years the upper deck area in the old corner was always empty…. Now they more or less doubled the space and while previous games were great the scheduling has a great deal of impact too.

You would have expected students, family, and alumni be in lock step and to show up at homecoming but the scheduling near a party Holiday was very poor planning with the university. Not only that I heard many may not show up as homecoming events were schedule up to and probably through the game itself.

It’s a combination but I would put it more on the university and even the ACC for the scheduling with a homecoming weekend over a holiday party time.

They didnt have many home coming options.. Parents weekend in Sept, you cant do homecoming the last 2 games and we had no Oct games.

The students have been awful the entire season, sans Georgia Tech. I would say about 50-60% of students left the Stanford game at halftime of a 3 point game. They just don’t care.

We have too many seats given the size of our student body. If we want to fill the entire student section we would need two thirds of the students to go. That is like asking Ohio State to have 30k students at games.

I understand how the Pitt loss might have discouraged a casual fan from Rochester to not drive 3 hours and go to the game as a walkup but how does an SU student decide to sit out when they have paid for the tickets, gone to GT/Stanford/HC/Ohio, first game since September, last game until uconn, at noon so no social commitment overlap?

Show up late sure but watch it in the dorms or just not make the 15 minute walk? Its unfathomable.

They need to only give students the 3 sections in the 100 level and give back the seats in the corners to season ticket holders.

Watching my old seats in 127 sit empty for 3/4ths of the game and OT was brutal. And this has happened at every home game so far.

Can’t imagine what it was like yesterday for the people in the 300 level that got booted.

I hope that Syracuse considers making a change in this offseason.

And for anyone expecting UConn and Miami to be better? Guess again. This was essentially the final football game of the season for the students and they couldn’t even show.

Pathetic

perfect time to give away tickets to any college kids in surrounding towns who don't go to SU...and HS kids. Pack those areas.
That is what the university plans to do. They sent out a fourm seeing interest in those two games. Probably will sell some tickets in those sections for UConn and Miami

Not sure what you can do when a student has season tickets but doesn’t show. You can’t sell his/her ticket. Heck, that’s the same as any casual fan. If they don’t show, it’s an empty seat.
Maybe you sell less season tickets to students and give them a week to request the following weeks game. And then open them up to the general public for cheap. Not sure.

I figured with renewed optimism, a good start, a passing O, VA Tech and Miami on the schedule, and reduced capacity that tickets would be a lot hotter this year. We are at 39,595 right now. UConn will be less than that. Miami should be more than that. So we might average under 40k.

We are up from last year but I figured it would be closer to 5k per game and not the 2726 per game we have seen thus far. I am surprised that we didn't hit 40k for any of our ACC games when I expected over 40k for all three.
