Students No Show

perfect time to give away tickets to any college kids in surrounding towns who don't go to SU...and HS kids. Pack those areas.
Can’t give tickets away if you’ve already sold them.

They need to only give students the 3 sections in the 100 level and give back the seats in the corners to season ticket holders.

Watching my old seats in 127 sit empty for 3/4ths of the game and OT was brutal. And this has happened at every home game so far.

Can’t imagine what it was like yesterday for the people in the 300 level that got booted.

I hope that Syracuse considers making a change in this offseason.

And for anyone expecting UConn and Miami to be better? Guess again. This was essentially the final football game of the season for the students and they couldn’t even show.

Pathetic
They should definitely lose 2-3 sections next season.

They just don’t care.this is it. Nothing else.

I agree, while students ultimately hold this tickets or sell particular ones as individuals I really blame the admin. I get that it is great to give discounts to students and have designated seating, they more or less doubled the seating and often in past years the upper deck area in the old corner was always empty…. Now they more or less doubled the space and while previous games were great the scheduling has a great deal of impact too.

You would have expected students, family, and alumni be in lock step and to show up at homecoming but the scheduling near a party Holiday was very poor planning with the university. Not only that I heard many may not show up as homecoming events were schedule up to and probably through the game itself.

It’s a combination but I would put it more on the university and even the ACC for the scheduling with a homecoming weekend over a holiday party time.
I think the gap from September to now is a major factor. Kids with half an interest at best but don’t get into a weekly routine while school work and social scene ramps up are not going to be as interested in the event especially since they either didn’t lay out the money for the tickets, or they have already paid it off and forgotten. These aren’t adults who understand credit card debt or disposable income yet. For 18 year olds who were in high school last year, it’s all disposable.

Luckily they don’t sell the individual seats so they definitely could do something. Glad to hear they’re considering it.
Not sure I understand how they can do anything different for the remaining games. Do they send other season ticket holders to the student section and frustrate them by taking away their selected seats? The seats may not be assigned (not sure if true) but they are accounted for in terms of capacity/safety and all the other seats ARE assigned.

The long gap is more reason to go to this one if they overall went to 4 games in 5 weeks some of them cupcakes.

At least Uconn shouldn't be as terrible as yesterday. Wonder if there is a chance Miami gets #1 overall for that game Oregon has to lose but I think they'll be ahead of 1 loss UGA and OSU.

Exactly. Offer the UConn and Miami seats to local HS and PW Football teams and arrange parking for them to come to campus on buses. The kids love coming to games, and that would be a great holiday weekend event for families. There are ways to get the Dome filled.

Just curious, does anyone know how BC student attendance at games compares to SU? They have an outdoor stadium, and if their attendance is better than ours, that’s just pathetic.

Their student attendance is notoriously terrible outside of one game a year. It’s why the moniker superfans is so lame.

Well, what if they talked to the students that have tickets, since they have their emails, and offered them an option to exchange their seats or something similar?

I’m sure they could make something like this work and then they could put tickets back into inventory because again students don’t have assigned seats just assigned sections

Talk to the students. I am all for it. I just think it’s a logistical nightmare. If a student put their season in their e-wallet, they have it. Can you really prevent two people from showing up for the same seat (student and the re-sale)? Do you force both games to be sold? Better likelihood they want to go to Miami than UConn. They may not want to sell both. What if they want to resell their ticket at their own profit (which I don’t think they can do now)?

Not every fan (student or otherwise) is able to withstand a kick in the family jewels like the Pitt game. They will learn from this. And hats off to Pitt for being able to crush our spirit like that. I mean, I hate them but gosh, job well done! See you next year!
Pitt shouldn't have left town, (sorry if this is a repeat), SMU destroyed them yesterday in Dallas 48 - 25 - it was 48 - 11 when I shut ESPN scores down so SMU must have emptied the bench to allow Pitt to score. I love seeing Pitt enjoy defeat.

If I am understanding this correctly, students don't have assigned seats that they can resell. It can't be that complicated to find out who plans to be there during a vacation. Insiders, please tell me the University has something in mind for the UConn and Miami games.

They won’t be at Miami and Uconn

That’s thanksgiving break. The students won’t be around.

I don’t think Syracuse is blind to the fact that the students won’t be around

So that’s 2 more games that the section will be empty. Something needs to change here. Lose 7K seats by removing the benches, and giving the students all those sections, which go empty. There has to be some demand out there that will help fill those sections in

I see it a bit like a cheap gym membership. You go before summer, or when you don’t have anything else to do. You went for four straight weeks as a New Year’s resolution and they closed the gym due to a water main break or something. You got a date. Now it’s winter and you’re dating, and you have no reason to go back to the gym. So what if that water main problem is all cleaned up!?

there is not much demand in the main sections either.

You could i supposed sell the top 10 rows in the student area with little concern. maybe they go back to that?

Is the school actually doing anything to figure out the problem? Like send people out and talk to kids?

When I had student tickets, they would isolate games that were either high demand or during a holiday break. You had to buy those separate of the full package. Not sure if they did that this year.

I’m so torn on student seating.

There have been so many times in the last few years where you NEED that many seats for the students, but same goes on the other hand where you need half the seats.

Can’t fix the leaving at half. That’s college kids everywhere

But i think you need to scan in and scan out & use time in building for whatever it is they’ll want the most. Tickets don’t work.

Scan each student in and they earn hours. So for a noon kickoff start the clock (regardless if they’re in before) at 11am and end it at say 4pm. If you stay the whole game you don’t have to scan out and you earned 5 hours. Leave early? You get what you get (noon scan to 230 is 2.5 hours)

Build a system to use the hours for certain things. Priority seating for MBB, courtside seats, FB priority seating, etc

Also I am so sorry for so many of you who had to look at your unused season ticket location from 2023 from wherever you are in the building now. That sucks
