Summer Workouts

So the non early enrollee summer arrival freshman are yet to make it to campus right?

Summer Session #2 runs from Monday, Jun. 30 - Friday, Aug. 8
So the early enrollee freshman come in the spring. But do some Freshman make it there for Summer session 1 and some only get there at Summer session 2?

Some frosh don’t graduate HS until this weekend.
True. Ah OK. I just saw that first session started all the way back on May 19th so i guess Summer Freshman likely don't get there until second session. Thanks.

Maybe I missed it but does anyone have a full projected depth chart somehwere?
Syracuse football has not put one out since the beginning of the spring I believe and likely won't until probably the week of the first game like last year. I don't really see any up to date ones anywhere with a quick search. at least none that have the several late spring additions. I just created one. I'll post a separate thread for it.

You honestly think a 9 win season against that schedule would be a disappointment?
I will be somewhat disappointed but I won't lose any sleep over it like our coach will.
This is not a Dino or Shafer squad. We have moved on to bigger things & this season will be the turning point.
I tend to expect big things when it is warranted, more often than not it helps to make things happen. Believe and achieve.

Obviously the schedule appears to be difficult but we really don't know how difficult it actually will be or was until after the season.⁹

Whats wrong Cardi?

We have a lot of good pieces returning but a lot are young. There is more depth on the team than I’ve seen in a long time.
There are some big questions that will not be answered until the season starts. Who is going to be qb and how will they gel in the offense? Will the Oline portal additions raise the play of the Oline? Will the secondary take a step forward? If all of these things happen positively it could be a really good season. If not could be a lot of up and down games.
Excited for the season and wearing my orange colored glasses for a successful season.
Go Orange. Trust in Fran.

I get the concern with the offense and us not having many starters back.
Nixon has shown he is good at adapting his offense to play to the strengths of the offense. He used Nixon and Allen in the same backfield early, got some good success with that. Went full air raid most of the time and the offense was humming (I don’t count the Pitt game as it didn’t happen lol).
Also we abused every secondary with the back shoulder pass.

He will figure out his pieces he has and put together the best game plan possible.

Defense actually has me more worried. It looked as bad as a Ward defense at times.
We got some nice pieces along the dline and I think our secondary could be the strength of the defense. I hope we’ve learned to call better plans in critical situations.

Special teams, punting is a weapon as long as we have better blocking scheme and coverage teams should be solid again.
I dont trust the kicking team at all.

The staff is solid and think it’s a step better with the changes made.

Fingers crossed we get the breaks to go our way and maybe an Angel will guide the offense this year

Good points. I’m hoping a step forward overall on D. There are some questions but I expect tackling will be improved. I remember in spring both the staff and players acknowledged it was bad and need improvement. Im thinking focusing on technique and the second year in the system will show an improvement.

Also offensively, we likely have a new starting QB, WR and probably 3 OL that just joined the team and didn’t even play a snap of spring ball in Syracuse. Especially
Considering you can’t just hand these guys starting roles immediately. They need to share some snaps at win the starting role yet.

How quickly can the team learn the offense and gel considering that? That is a bit concerning to me.

Not sure what you mean. They may tell some transfers they expect them to likely win a starting spot, but I’m pretty darn sure they make them win it in practice. Otherwise I’d expect you risk losing the team. To me winning the #1 spot has to be earned on the field. That is the only way to go.

100 percent agree with this.

You think there was open competition for QB? Think Diggs had to worry about starting?

Yes. With McCord it probably lasted almost no time at all as it was apparent immediately Kyle was better than a redshirt freshman Jakari. With Diggs it probably took a tad longer to prove. With Angeli, it will take more time than that as we have a somewhat legitimate QB in Colins who was already announced as the starter before Angeli was added to the mix. And these new OL coming in the fold aren’t in anywhere close to the same situation. Collin’s may very well start on the one line as we have almost nobody else competing for the Center spot. But none of the others have proven they can play at this level yet. And despite natural talent, the same goes for Cook. He has to win the spot. There are other talented players vying for that PT.

And that’s what happens. Angeli wasn’t promised anything playing time wise except the opportunity to compete. But he knows what he has to do to be the starter. If he’s not, that means Rickie has taken a big step forward.

With that level of player no but they still killed it in practice. You never just handover a spot.

Humm. Encouraging news. I believe that's Jackson Kennedy in the black shirt and gray shorts. We haven't heard about him and his eligibility at all. Apparently he's not working a job on Wall Street.

Now, where the heck do you get mass quantities of crawfish like that around Syracuse?

I don’t think that’s Kennedy unless he changed his hairstyle. Thought Ethan Stangle, but I could be totally wrong
