it helps if the QB makes the right reads though. We missed a ton of big plays the last couple years because we threw to the 2 big guys because it was open and not to the correct guy.

Yeah, there was some tunnel vision from time to time.

There are very few secondary reads in this offense. It's a big part of the reason Dungey ran so much last year. Presnap matchups dictate the read, but it is one receiver who is essentially called and has an option route that he runs based on how the defense plays or reacts. The remaining receivers have rules that are designed to isolate a particular matchup and create space in a particular part of the field.

perhaps but that is not what i was told has been happening. just because the fade to Ish or the short curl to Irv was open all year doesnt mean we should throw it to them 75% of the time. we saw some huge home run plays when the open guy was hit, but we missed a ton of others. Now that we dont have the 2 go to guys who got open even when covered its even more important to make the correct reads and not give up on some plays.. it will help as you say of the blocking holds up so he doesnt have to run so fast.
