Syracuse football not planning any MetLife Stadium games after 2016, according to official (PS)

I thought I heard Giansante say on Axe's show last week/early this week that the new locker rooms for women's lacrosse and some other olympic sports improvements were paid for with the Met Life money. Can anyone else corroborate that or was I just hearing things?

This is possible, but we don't know this and the SUAD has not stated this. Gross/Giancante have gone on the records with some very detailed statements. When you go on the record with the stuff Giancante said I doubt there is a confidentiality clause.
Some of these things are interpretive with respect to disclosure. If "price" or "terms" cannot be disclosed you can say a lot without breaching the CA clause. There is also the issue of not wanting price or terms used against them in other future negotiations. I certainly would keep that to myself.

If Gross/Giancante are telling the truth about this MetLife series ending after 2016 then future negotiations wouldn't matter.
I get we could always use more money but when Gross had to know Syracuse was going to get more TV money in the future. My problem with this series was Gross let Notre Dame put a clown suit on our football program.

If we want to play in YS vs rutgirls, the deal should be 1 in the Dome and 1 in YS.
Why would Rutgers agree to that ? Why don't we let bygones BE bygones and work with them to build up NY/NJ football . Both schools ended up where they should have and both made good . If it's a long term neutral sit deal , there would be less impetuous for referee shenanigans. It wouldn't count against our home scheduling and would be a real thanksgiving treat to watch with friends and family , or make an easy day or overnight to NYC.

Then get someone else. Why should we give up a home game? We're better off as a program playing home and home with a Illinois than playing rutgirls at YS.

I think it's a pretty good idea however I thought they were going to try to make BC vs SU a Thanksgiving thing. I wouldn't mind a neutral site game vs RU every few years in YS or Met Life however I'd prefer it away from a holiday weekend which makes it pretty tough for locals with family to attend.

It reinforces the idea that we both have connections to NYC. If they end up sucking over the long term, then better for us to get a good chance at a win, at the very least it puts us head to head in NJ recruiting battles with RU and it further alienates UConn.

Big Ten doesn't let teams play non-conference games after week 5. This game would not happen during Thanksgiving plus BC is a better rivalry game than Rutgers.

What are you people even still arguing about for God's sake?!

We're not going to schedule any more MetLife games. This great evil has been eradicated.

Spike the *cking football and move on.

Yeesh.
Your right but TheCusian posts are doing a good job and making me continue posting. I am glad this stupid series is ending.

Of course they matter. In any future negotiation with any third party.

I don't get this "Made us look like a mid-major" argument you've been making. If you talking about on the field - we did that all by ourselves. Lots of teams play neutral site games for money. Someone has to lose a home game. Makes sense that it's the team with less clout.

The only problem with BC is everybody in Boston is a ND fan , or an Ivy Leaguer who still thinks Haavaad and Yale is The Big Game.

I heard that W. Lax raised their own money for the locker room, but I can't confirm, and since the Olympic weight room is now a prison yard inside Manley, the money certainly isn't being used there.

I have a very hard time trusting Giansante after hearing his answer to Axe's simple question about orange uniforms. Instead of saying yes, no, or even you'll have to wait until Friday, this is what he said.

And for a team to be able to wear that uniform, everything has to be done right. You have to have the numbers, the duplicate numbers ... the right sizing ... it's a large process to get a whole compliment in. So they'll only be worn, Brent, if they're completely ready to be worn."

WTH was that?

My intellect is mid major because you don't like my points.
News flash Saturday had more Notre dame fans than Syracuse for a Syracuse home game that is embarrassing. It happened at the nadir of program in 2008 vs. Penn State and happened on Saturday.

Most Irish Catholics in this country are ND fans, so they have nationwide numbers. Also, PSU's alumni base is about 5x what SU's is. Our "home game" at MetLife was just for scheduling purposes. Everyone knows it was more of a home game for both of the other teams.

Syracuse's attendance at the Dome will continue to increase if the program can continue to progress. We have better teams coming into the Dome and we are no longer getting beat by 4 tds to teams like USF at home.

If Giansante said that and I believe Full Rebar he did than Baghdad Bob and. Terrel Owens ex-PR lady have some serious competition for worst spokesman ever.
Orange uniforms were not a priority for the AD when Nike remodeled our uniforms. Nike created blue, white, grey uniforms and didn't bother creating orange tops or pants when they did SU uniforms. Nike created white, grey, orange, green combos for Miami this year.
Somebody take the media duties for Giansante.
All they need to say is we didn't communicate with Nike last year we wanted an orange combination we screwed up we will own it and Nike is now working on it because we realize our fanbase wants an orange combo. Sorry to Syracuse fans this will be rectified in the near future please be patient we are truly sorry.
Is it that hard to say that? I would be okay be patient if they would just be honest own their mistakes. Nobody is perfect but it's hard to be forgiving you don't own the mistakes and give that crap answer Giansante apparently gave to Orange jerseys.

In 2009 Tennessee players wanted black jerseys for Halloween game against South Carolina. The week of the game Tennessee bought black jerseys had a sewer put the Tennesee orange numbers on the black and they wore that Saturday. Newsflash to Giansante please don't insult our intelligence.

That wasn't lawyer speak it was I am going to give you a crap answer and shove it down your throat because I or the SUAD don't want to just say we screwed up even though if I just said we made a mistake people would be a little more forgiving but I don't care answer.

one thing that needs to be made crystal clear, is that if we are dropping games at Giants Stadium and yet scheduling games at Yankee then the reason for doing so hasnt changed...$$$$$ and exposure to the NYC market...and the alsacs and bees of the world have lost their crusade.

but what WILL have changed is that we downgraded the attempt.

going from the football crown jewel of the NYC area to the baseball crown jewel, while not necessarily a fail (we all knew what attendence would be) is an admission of defeat. simply, the team shouldnt play the big stage.

and by not playing the big stage...we all suffer.

games at Yankee Stadium will suck in comparison to Giants Stadium. 1st of all, nobody will be able to get there...except Manhattanites by subway...and then you are pushing them into bars instead of a great tailgate. 2nd, the sight lines basically suck as well. 3rd, they basically will be excluding jersey and eastern PA folk from easily attending.

the good news is that a 40k showing will look massive.

the funny thing is Syracuse has played Giants Stadium in the 70s, the 80s, the 90s, the 00s and the 10s. but as soon as they announced they plan to play there in the 20s and 30s...people got their pantys all up in a wad.

ridiculous.

My crusade is that Syracuse act like a P5 conference football team and not a football team in the AAC or MAC.
Playing HOME games 300 miles from campus is what Northern Illinois or Central Michigan should do to play big boys. Syracuse should not ever act like a mid major which Gross allowed to happen to play Notre Dame which we did not have to do.

If Gross wants to play a neutral site game in the NYC area I have never had a problem with that as long as Syracuse is not giving up a home game and playing a road game as part of these NYC games.

Your side of this debate wants to ignore how small time it is to play road games and then play our home games 300 miles from campus when it takes larger schools to actually fill the NYC stadium up because SU fans on their own can't do it. If Syracuse fans on their own could fillup MetLife you may have argument but that stadium has never been filled up SU fans for 2 SU football games at MetLife.
Don't try changing the discussion SU "home" games at metlife have not not been home games and make our program look like it belongs in American. If UConn or Rutgers were doing it our fanbase would mock them for showing how small time they are for playing home games into neutral/road game atmosphere.

Now that was a BS answer ;).

We played games in the 70s because the Dome was being built.
In the 80s,90s,00s we played in Kickoff Classics which were neutral site games not home games and they allowed each team an extra game back then.
Kaiser you are smarter than this Syracuse never played home games in East Rutherford except when the Dome was being built why would anyone be upset with neutral site games when neither side is playing on the others campus.
Your point is easily countered. Syracuse playing "home" games at MetLife is amateur hour for our football brand when we on our own couldn't fill half of the stadium max capacity:

So, just get the orange pants. That shouldn't be hard. Orange-blue-orange is the best home combination, anyway.

i dont give a shlit what the they call it...home, away...neutral.

hell, i dont even really care what # they brought.

my point is...its always a neutral. but if 'calling' it a home game gives us more $$ then...yippie ki-yay mutha-fluckas!!

i dont see at all how its amateur hour...and believe me, i would LOVE to call it amateur hour. pointing out the schools ridiculousness is enjoyable. sadly, this isnt one of their miscues.

calling these nd games 'home games' are a monster 'home run' (pun intended), because they still play 6 games in the Dome.

we lost 1 game from the Dome, usc...but if the net was more $$, then thats a good business decision and i am all for it.

every trade hurts, trading peoples feelings for $$$ is good business.

I don't care that they play the very occasional game at either, just not 14 of them and only when we have 7 home games scheduled. Then we would be giving up an away game instead of a potential home game. This program needs 2 things MORE than anything. Wins #1 and increased home attendance #2. The chances for either are better in the Dome than they are in NJ or NYC.
