Knowing nothing about Alex prior to his hiring, reading what others have said about him here and listening to that interview has me pretty amped up for what he is going to do for the program. I love the breath of fresh air that has been injected into the program and the direction that it's headed in since Red took over. Even more, it's just really heartwarming to continue to hear from various people how genuine and down-to-earth the staff is. Really looking forward to seeing where SU goes in the next several years.
Agree. Thinking he's a glorified GA because of his youthful appearance would be a mistake. This guy is smart (SU alum) and has great experience. He will be a value add for the program, and not just scouting and NIL. Imagine if we had hired him 4-5 years ago (and maybe avoided some of the roster disasters we suffered through)! Great interview! They probably won’t say it directly, but it’s very clear that we are striving to build the culture that UConn has had under Hurley. This is the only way to even enter that level of play, no team last year was even close to UConn’s level. Hopefully along the way, we find the competitive advantage over UConn because it should be assumed they are already brainstorming on how to continue innovating there program.
Jake (other insiders as well): As of yet, are there any tangible benefits of having Alex on board that you are able to share?Kline is a great hire. GREAT hire.

I think he probably brings some youth to the “staff” and his connections from his tournament and time with the Knicks will undoubtedly pay dividends long term. Also, unless there is a huge offer that SU can’t match, or an NBA GM type position, you got to believe he is her long term, providing a lot of stability.
Another question: is he men’s team only, or will he work for the women as well?
Thanks!!
If it's what I think it is then no.
I think Eric has matured a lot in the last few years. I see all his stuff on Linked In. Very happy for him. People can grow into themselves, and our team could use some moxie.
Notice he didn't say anything about the talent of the group.
The note was around culture building. We have talent, but do we have the right culture/system to bring us back?Notice he didn't say anything about the talent of the group.
Thrilled to see the warmth/respect stuff because Red's at the beginning of trying to build a program and that tells me he can do it with this current gen. But yeah I would think if he was blown away by Freeman or the general talent he would have said that.Notice he didn't say anything about the talent of the group.

I don't know much about the business of scouting, but intuitively, that's not a real surprise. He is a scout for an NBA team after all. His opinion and the data he collects are for his employer's eyes and ears. That stuff I assume doesn't get publicized in interviews.Notice he didn't say anything about the talent of the group.

Fair point. I am just a little more skeptical that this season is going to be leaps and bounds better than the last couple.I don't know much about the business of scouting, but intuitively, that's not a real surprise.
