If Bryan Hodgson is indeed the choice, we should expect him to bring his staff with him.


“I can’t stress enough. And there’s people that probably offended by it, but I can’t stand when I see a guy have success at the low major, mid-major level, take a job at the higher level and not take their staff with him. And for me, I start to think, well, was it just you that won all those games at your last stop? If you look back, when we went to Alabama, Nate brought 90% of the staff. The other guy got the head coaching job at the University of Buffalo. You look at some of the most successful guys in college basketball. You look at Bill Self, the carryover of guys that work under Bill Self, are familiar faces and names. You know, Kelvin Sampson, same thing. And so I think as much as we talk about players, recruiting, X’s and O’s, scouting, analytics, you have to invest in your staff. You’ve got to enable them. They’ve got to know that you trust them and believe in their work. And when you create that environment, I think you give yourself a chance to win. My guys know that as long as I’m in this deal, they’re going to be here with me.”

Yup, I didn't love the hire, but was willing to give him a chance and after he moved quick on the portal his first year and brought in athletes, I was hopeful. But even during his one good year it was apparent that he either didn't understand the modern college game or how to coach his guys up. He didn't learn from Year 1 and doubled down on his mistakes and here we are.

Couldnt punch up in Maui was disappointing. A 20 pt loss to UVA in December was concerning. The 29 pt loss at Wake was Level 5 concern that he wasn't the guy.

I would think proven winner means multiple seasons competing at the highest level in the NCAA tournament, not just making the tournament once based on a flukey run or a weak conference.

We actually agree and I threw out Chris Mack's name. He's won everywhere he's been and will get hired by a P4.

He is not a good coach, he didn’t even recruit well which is what he was at least decent at when we brought him in, he’s not very charismatic, only reason he got to this level was because of Boeheim….I have a hard time seeing him get a job at this level
