Syracuse Women's Basketball: Put a fence around NY State?

There are going to be some tough choices for SU Athletics. I do not believe the funding sources exist to keep everyone competitive.
People view the big 3 here as men's basketball, football, and men's lacrosse. But having a successful and elite women's basketball program has higher earning revenue potential than an elite men's lacrosse program. We could sky rocket to the top of the women's basketball game if people gave a damn about women's basketball and supported it at a similar level or even greater level than lacrosse. We have the coach, it would take a major culture shift to really get thousands to support it regularly beyond going to the casual game or two a year and having it on as background tv occasionally. I'm pretty sure when it comes to rev share that women's basketball is higher on the priority list than lacrosse anyway.

Not a bad seat ever watching the women’s games.

On multiple threads on this forum, when our unrealistic fan base keeps talking about firing coaches, I keep bringing up the fact that in today's college athletic landscape, Money is KIng!!!! If we want to compete at a high level in football, basketball and women's hoops, we need cash. In the article above, Coach Jack feels she is a top recruiter and can recruit with the "best of them", but her recruiting record at Syracuse doesn't match her statement. Let, me be clear, I love coach Jack and feel she is a great Coach, but look at her recruiting: We have lost out on multiple top 50 players located right here in New York State. We have only one HS commit for next year despite losing 3 players after this year. In addition to recruiting new players, we will be hard pressed to hold on to Uche and keep her from going to the Cash rich SEC. (Don't think some of those schools won't try to poach her...and how can you blame her for turning down a bag full of a couple of million dollars ?)

If what you say is true, and I believe it 100 percent to be true, then why are so many fans calling for firing coaches, when a big factor is a talent gap due to underfunding? We all, as fans of SU sports, have to recognize "time and Score" so to speak. The playing field is different now, and the degree to which your bank account is full, will determine success way more than we are factoring in.

I have the link on this forum to donate directly to Coach Jack’s fund for women’s basketball. Hope people donate and show our support.

People want Autry fired because he is not up to the job and if you are suggesting it’s talent and not coaching than SU should replace Autry with someone who would cost less.

If she had even half the money that Autry has we would be top 20 in the country probably top 10.
Even in the women's game you half to have a lot of money to recruit.

And the only reason Fair came back for her Senior Season was AW promised to give her 250,000 for coming back and she said that's what she got. And I haven't seen any of the big mouths who got him banned donating to the Women's team.
