Taj Harris, starting drama?

Tony Dungey compared him to Marvin Harrison. I’d count that as overrated
Taj’s numbers are almost identical as Marvin’s through 3 years.

Disclaimer: I’m not saying Taj is going to have a career like Marvin but so far the numbers are the same

It’s all good, I personally don’t think Taj is anywhere near the player Harrison was.Not even in the same stratosphere, but to each his own.

He might run hard, but if you think his hard running is comparable to Payton’s running then yes that’s too much.
I'll ask again, is Tucker over rated because he reminds me of another player?

My wife is a good looking blonde, but she doesn’t remind me of Christie Brinkley.I guess it’s how ya look at things.

You didnt answer the question though, but I think you figured out my point. Saying a player reminds someone of another doesnt mean they are as good as them and its not in the criteria for determiing who is overrated.

Not at all. Taj right now has caught as many passes as Marvin did in his entire career here. Harrison has +900 more yards though and has doubled Taj's TDs, 20 to 10. Taj will blow by Harrison's career receptions, might catch him on yards (although with a significantly lower ypc), and will need a big year to have more TDs.

Man... I'll say this, it would be laughable how little Harrison caught the ball for how good he was if it wasn't criminal. But thus were the days of a goal for 200 yards rushing and 200 yards passing.

I was just going by total yards up to this point. Taj leads in some categories and Marvin others. I shouldn’t have said they’re the same.

I agree. I remember watching those games being frustrated Marvin wasn’t getting the ball as much as I thought he should

Taj will most likely go down as a Top 10 and possibly Top 7 WR in SU history when he’s done at SU. That’s taking into account how the game has changed over the years.

If Harrison played under Dino his numbers would be off the charts. No comparison in talent. Not even close.

Yep. For sure. Same with a lot of our greats on O. I think that says something about the era of CFB were in and the hope we still have in Dino

I still say if Harrison was one year younger, and all else being equal, we're in the national title game in the 96 season.

As great as he was, he didn't see the field until his 3rd season. It was a different time, especially with all the talent we had.

I agree with you. Taj has been out best receiver the last couple of years and could be all ACC next year. I don’t think that makes him overrated as some say
Over rated is just not a word I would use to express my concerns with him.

To be fair, Tommy probably KNOWS that he isn’t Taj’s favorite QB. I think this faux controversy is silly. Taj probably isn’t Tommy’s favorite WR.

For the good of them both and the team they, IMO, better get on the same page and strive for W's. They should begin working together when TD can a long time before the season begins.

Harris needs to mature. Some kids are 20 going on 12 and act that way. Not the best situation. He needs to have somebody feed him balls from a Juggs machine and try and catch every ball he can.

He is our most experienced and best WR.

We usually have, from the previous season, someone who is ready to step up and be THE receiver. When you look at Xtremes potential roster we do not have the best WR group I have witnessed in the long span I have been playing and watching SU.

I don't see a Tawo, Custis Philips, Ishmael, Estime or Lemon ready to bring WR records to new heights. Who knows though - we haven't even seen Gadsen II, Hatcher or Long.

Some of the WR's listed haven't even played. Some of those on the roster are Thompson Bishop, Queeley, and Hendrix.

I would have liked to have seen Lemon and Ishmael work together. Lemon is second all time with 2,596 receiving yards and Ishmael broke Marvin's record with 219 receptions and 2,891 yards.

Who knows who may be the next great receiver for us? It might be Harris if TD and he can really work together. :)

They can be on the same page and not lie to each other IMHO. They don’t have to love each other in order for them to do their jobs.

Tommy and Taj get along well. Taj is passionate, and immature. I like his fire. Wish more of our players had his drive. Hes going to be fine.

I remember going into the 2018 worried about the Wr group. It didnt look good on paper. Ish and Erv graduated. Butler's 300 receiving yards lead all returners within the group. Custis ended up emerging. Riley and Nykeim was good and Taj was the big surprised that year. Hope that happens next year.

I've convinced myself that Taj is going to destroy people from the slot, Queeley will be on one sideline, and one of the true or 2nd year freshmen we haven't seen yet, Hendrix, or Barron will lock down the other sideline, and we'll rotate Benson and another slot, and we're going to throw for a million yards and Jordan and Tucker are going to run for a million yards. Maybe each. I haven't decided yet.

Clearly Taj isn’t the calibre Marvin was. But I find it funny what lengths people will go to to downplay a players talent just because they personally dont like them.

Taj has incredible after the catch abilities. He’s got a higher ceiling imo than many of the Babers era receivers before him. He just needs to focus
