Class of 2024 TE Michael Smith (GA) Portal flip to Ole Miss

Im definitely concerned about our offense next year...did not replace lost talent
I am also concerned about our roster talent hopefully we pick up a few impact portal studs soon and maybe we will have some current players have a breakout year. On the good side I am very excited about our new staff additions they could really make us a better team, especially Our DC. Kehres.

We got a te from transfer portal from wku who actually produced. I bet Smith flops, he's quit on multiple teams, not a recipe for success
His best opportunity was here - both for the discipline of the program and getting him away from the SEC circus. I agree, it wouldn’t surprise me if he flops there at all. Just more of the same culture.

That's not at all how soccer contracts work. That sounds like the NBA
These types of transactions (signed contract with Team A, but playing on Team B) should be considered “loans”. In that case, Team A could have a stipulation that the player cannot play in a game in which Teams A and B play one another. This would change the dynamic somewhat for poaching within the same conference. Example, if Miami plays Duke next season, Mensah can’t play. Works well in the EPL.

Is it wrong to expect better from all of them?
So, you are from the do as I say, not as I do, school of thought.
The players are t breaking any rules, and aren’t hurting anyone. They should get what they can get. Heck HCFB just decommitted from a number of coaches and players. Nature of the business.

Well now you're just making too damn much sense. If Mensah doesn't play x amount of minutes by game 2 or 3 Duke could recall him and cancel the remaining loan.

In our case this tight end would be on our books for x and Ole Miss could broker paying Syracuse directly 5X for his services since he's under contract. Could probably throw in some academy verbiage in there as well. If player Y is recruited and improves enough to get poached, team SEC would have to pay back school Y for his training at a rate decided by tribunal based on current market value. Also could add sell on bonuses as well so if a bigger school poacher for even more, original school gets 20% of what school B gets from school C.

This is actually brilliant and would reward smaller schools as well as establish actual market value for players. If Man City... I mean Texas wants to overpay with endless oil money at least the prior teams won't get blanked. Also, transfer fees go to prior clubs, not the players. Miami can pay 8m to Duke for Mensah and whatever they pay Mensah beyond that is between them and the player. Maybe he could get 700k per week like Haaland?
