This early a guesstimate.247 gave 100% crystal ball to UNC
Cuse listed at 20/1 to land Iamaleava (which of course most likely won’t happen, just thought I’d share)

I’m still pissed about Gus Edwards …![]()
North Carolina Out of Nico Iamaleava Chase, Linked to Another Transfer QB
Bill Belichick and North Carolina are reportedly out of the mix for transfer quarterback Nico Iamaleava.www.si.com
As it stands: Nico plays Tennessee for a bigger payday. Then, UNC plays Nico to secure their real target. Lot's of life lessons to be shared with other players.
Expect the rules to tighten up on breaching NIL deals and forcing re-negotiations after each season. Schools are not endless pots of money, even though we may think that. Even donor fans will demand some controls to ensure performance of the NIL agreements.
It would be fitting if UT sues Nico for the difference between his UT deal and the new UT QB's deal, assuming it exceeds the value of Nico's UT deal. Also, it is likely that all conferences adopt the SEC rule on transfer between conference teams.
Most of the conferences used to have a rule regarding intraconference transfers. I’m surprised actually that it went away. If I recall some had a 2 year rule when transfers had to sit one year.I’m old and might be misremembering![]()

Has UCLA changed there mind or needs? Apparently they passed this past winter.I honestly see UCLA as his best shot most rumblings from programs on that list won’t touch him. Tulane won’t pay enough, they couldn’t hold on to Mensah. Rumor has it Nico and several other players started threatening holdouts in Dec to get more NIL for the extra playoff games. This is a trend that will continue but with the SEC putting in their portal restriction it creates an interesting dynamic. SEC teams will focus their NIL budgets on non-SEC transfers driving up the market for those players while simultaneously limiting the market for SEC exiles.
Gus would’ve been a beast for us.I’m still pissed about Gus Edwards …
I think you are correct, but things have changed so much who can keep track. But I distinctly remember two years automatic for inter-conference transfers instead of one like a normal transfer. The permission also rings the right bells, but I had forgotten that until you mentioned it.Most of the conferences used to have a rule regarding intraconference transfers. I’m surprised actually that it went away. If I recall some had a 2 year rule when transfers had to sit one year.I’m old and might be misrememberingbut I also think some required permission from their original team to transfer.
UCLA was the only one I had no info on which was why I said based on the rumblings from other schools. The only UCLA alum I knew used to empty my waste basket at the office.Has UCLA changed there mind or needs? Apparently they passed this past winter.
Some of the other schools that were reached out to in the winter window were Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, and Texas Tech. The Fighting Irish, like Oregon, were not interested. Making the move for both USC and UCLA didn't make much sense at the time. Texas Tech at least listened, but also didn’t make a move.
Confirms what I said above about the playoff shenanigansSome things in this article in the NY Post seem to be a little different. This one says it was all his dad's doing, not an agent. This also says players on many teams that were in the college football playoffs tried to negotiate more NIL $ to play the additional games. If true, this is getting even more out of hand.

Pressure growing on Nico Iamaleava’s dad after $8 million Tennessee standoff went wrong
Like many already suspected, Nico Iamaleava’s father, Nic, played a major role in his son’s drama and departure from Tennessee — despite his denial.nypost.com
The NCAA is useless but when the super conference breaks away just have collective bargaining and be done with the madness. Some things in this article in the NY Post seem to be a little different. It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out. Presently,Some things in this article in the NY Post seem to be a little different. This one says it was all his dad's doing, not an agent.
