This is good. Players need to accept responsibility for their actions and honor contracts, especially if they demand that the schools honor the same contract.

Whether the courts agree is a different story, but the issue is advanced, a step towards resolving the wild West side of NIL.

I hope we have this buyout language in "our" NIL contracts. Whether it's one of the collectives, or next year beginning with university involvement.

It’s all fun and games until real money is involved. There’s a reason why football uniforms don’t have pockets.

Since university involvement is revenue sharing, and not NIL, I wonder if incoming freshman should even be eligible to participate (assuming it is revenue from the previous year). I know it will be used like NIL, but it’s the revenue part that allows for the uneven distribution to revenue sports.

Good.

Not to be all "Get off my lawn!", but these kids need to learn that with big money comes big responsibilities.
Sometimes "Get off my lawn" is the right response. Forcing the young players to learn life's hard lesson that big money comes with big responsibilities is ultimately a good thing.

Think of all the pros who went from college to generational wealth only to lose it all through gambling and bad financial advice. That is the historical norm and yet each player has the opportunity to break that mould.

I don't know what to make of this. Sounds messy.

Messy sounds like the right assessment. I am not sure that lying about Tennessee in the Public Relations game would have helped nor would much of anything. Iamaleava was a prima donna, there was no team in his game (sounds like Carson Beck), or more like a toddler in a tantrum.

Another UT player put?

Boo Carter was a Top 150 Recruit who was sixth on the team in tackles last year as a true freshman, started the last five games of the season at the “Star” position, and led the SEC in punt return average.

Wouldn’t be mad if he missed the game on August 30th.
