I don't think they've been bad in a true sense. Missed tackles obviously are terrible, but TN fans said they were going to shut us out. Aside from a couple plays the offense hasn't had a lot of issues.

The silver lining here is at least we won't have unrealistic expectations moving forward
this game has zero impact on our ability to win the ACC and make the CFP. How's that for realistic

Offense looks about how I would expect at this point. Defense is rough, gotta get more creative, just don’t have the d-line talent to get pressure on Aguilar. I can’t really think of any positive plays on D other than the one punt that was forced.
All of our “good” defensive plays was Aguilar missing open receivers. Really no positives on that side of the ball.

Offense seemed to settle in as nicely as you could hope against an elite defense in a “neutral site” (away game) in the season opener as you could hope. Defense however looks as disgusting as ever. Erob cannot simply do the same exact things he did last year and expect different results. This defensive scheme might work if he was at an Alabama, an Lsu, a Clemson with 5 star DTs and edges. We don’t have that. Blitz. Stunt. Disguise your pressure. For the love of everything do anything but bring 4 and be shocked when the QB has 10 seconds to find an open receiver. And I didn’t even mention the tackling….
You are right, he has not learned a thing. His schemes are atrocious. Aguilar is not accurate and he is making it too easy to run against a light box rather than make him throw.

At least four times we ran three down linemen, two linebackers, and a deep safety, on second or third and long and they just ran it down our throats. We are playing a third and 20 defense on second and eight!

You have to be out of your mind to think you could stop one of the best running teams of the country with five guys in the box.

I hope Fran learns you don't defer the coin toss and put the defense out first again. We have the makings of a good offense. Put them our first. Let them impose their will on the other team's D.

Everyone needs to take a big dose of chill the heck out

They sell that at the NYS fair.

Right next to the Dippin' Dots.

Disappointing first half. D has a long ways to go.

The O looks so so. I think Angeli plays soft. He has some skills, but I dont see a warrior there. Of course, he was under a lot of pressure. O bright spots were Willis and Cook. Villari also made some plays.

Hopefully this team can squeak into a bowl game.

Look I dig optimism and being practical and have no issue with homerism either. Whining about people being too much of one or the other is dumb. Especially in a game thread lol
Nope, totally wrong.

It was absolutely the right choice

Why would the defense be better when they lost 7 starters?
Is that including Watson who would have been the best player on this defense at a key position.

We desperately need linebackers and defensive line depth.
