Offense seemed to settle in as nicely as you could hope against an elite defense in a “neutral site” (away game) in the season opener as you could hope. Defense however looks as disgusting as ever. Erob cannot simply do the same exact things he did last year and expect different results. This defensive scheme might work if he was at an Alabama, an Lsu, a Clemson with 5 star DTs and edges. We don’t have that. Blitz. Stunt. Disguise your pressure. For the love of everything do anything but bring 4 and be shocked when the QB has 10 seconds to find an open receiver. And I didn’t even mention the tackling….

It's hard to judge the D backfield when the D line gives the receivers and QB so much time to pick it apart.

Our HC was a DB coach. I gotta trust him as a talent evaluator. He hyped Samuels a lot. Duce and Grant are vets. We have some pieces.

Samuels will be fine. Duce is what is he, an average defensive player who can occasionally make a play. Grant has been a disappointment imo. I'm more worried about the front 6

You are right, he has not learned a thing. His schemes are atrocious. Aguilar is not accurate and he is making it too easy to run against a light box rather than make him throw.

At least four times we ran three down linemen, two linebackers, and a deep safety, on second or third and long and they just ran it down our throats. We are playing a third and 20 defense on second and eight!

You have to be out of your mind to think you could stop one of the best running teams of the country with five guys in the box.

That's the crux of the issue... The missed tackles are one thing, but the the defensive schemed sets are also remedial... Players and coaches stumbling and falling down out of the gate here.
