I say bring on Bassette.
It's all about Bassette, 'bout Bassette. No Terry.
I can do better. Come back to me later.

I've been trying to work out a How Stella Got Her Groove Back/Taye Diggs/Angela Bassett joke and I just haven't landed it yet. It's all about Bassette, 'bout Bassette. No Terry.

Rhino was also our break glass guy. That hurts.Darton and Fuentes have to play. Probably need to burn Bassette redshirt now. Shame they couldn't get Cam Goode from the portal
I think our guys were a bit gassed by the 4th. So I am not surprised later in the game UVA found a run game. Up until UVA we had done a good job keeping our D fresh with good drives on offense. Darton actually plays with very good leverage and speed. He was great against Purdue. I still think we have talent at DE enough to slide Caleb occasionally as needed. Caleb played over center as part of a rotation last year on 3rd downs so he should be familiar with Whites concepts there. It certainly felt like we were getting gashed in the run game at the end of the UVA game but I will say for most plays it didn't exactly seem like we had many players at the point of attack to stop the run. Seemed like we were playing soft and playing the pass more. LB's were not shooting gaps on these plays. Seemed like Darton was pretty much the only guy there and he was going to get double and triple teamed. So hopefully the problem is less DT depth and more defensive play calling which is less concerning.
Or maybe this is me trying to talk myself into everything will be OK?
we wont be fine. We will get the ball run down our throats if we dont make some movesYup, my guess as well. We’ll be fine. We have depth at Defensive end which is good. You start Darton in the middle, who by the way is having a hell of a season. When he needs breaks you move Caleb inside and Fuentes comes in as 3rd string if need be. Obviously Fuentes playing will be spot downs and probably only 5-8 snaps a game but I’m sure he’ll be capable. He was a big get out of high school and he’s a big dude.
They probably can get a O lineman but it will take time, The techniques and reads for an interior D lineman are different than a O lineman. Maybe they can find someone that can be servicable by the ND game. Some one mentioned Petry earlier in the thread. He seems twitchy enough. Is there a back up O/Lineman that we can plug at DT to take up space and block running lanes?
I'm sure the staff knows and is using the Wagner game and the bye week to give reps to people. Would be great if Petry can provide even 5-10 snaps per game. They probably can get a O lineman but it will take time, The techniques and reads for an interior D lineman are different than a O lineman. When I rewatch the games I have a hard time setting Vet as the best run blocker.. Thats puzzling to see how thats the result. But if you told me the guards are an issue I would believe that.. Almost every running play fails because one of those 3 is missing a block.. Not really surprising given we run those plays most of the time.#5?
With the struggles in the running game, I doubt they move their best run blocker to DL.
