Shades of the 1980's teams.Free throws not so free
Bell played double the minutes that Freeman did, that's insanity.Minutes

Yup when red does that. Makes me wonder? What you are thinks. As “Art Howe said “You are outside of your mind Billy”Bell played double the minutes that Freeman did, that's insanity.
Worst FT shooting team we’ve ever fielded. Impressive given how we’ve fared at the FT line historically.
Just stop it!!!! JB isn't coaching anymore! His last two years were not so great. Poor foul shooting lost this game not Red's coaching ability. Our foul shooting is horrible . The team clawed it's way back and made it a game. Again, in tight games, foul shots make the difference. For me, that is the take away. How does a kid shoot 80% from the line last year, transfer to Syracuse and now he shoots 50% from the line? This same kid made 1/2 at the line in the last minutes of the game! I watched the SU women play last night. Albany had a girl who shot 48% as a freshman from the free throw line...now, as a Sr, she is shooting 90%...48%- 90%!!!! YOU can improve at the line...but it takes discipline and practice and I don't think we are putting in the work to improve our free throw shooting percentage as a team.
there are honestly no words for how awful a coaching decision it was to 1. Play bell 20 mins in the 2nd half and 2. Bring Carlos back in at the end of the game. Another abomination of a coaching performance.
FWIW, the defense was better for the last 15 minutes. Prior to that is was awful. Let’s not presume that was solved.
Carlos played a lot less minutes, which is probably for the best, but he still played more minutes than Freeman.
Which seems not great.
I can’t believe what a weakness the backcourt is right now outside of Starling. Carlos, Taylor and Choppa Moore combined for a grand total of 3 points in 50(!) total minutes of playing time. That’s UNACCEPTABLE. Taylor is proving to be best defender of the three. Moore the best shooter and offensive threat, and Carlos the best passer/PG (though not really all that good, tbh). But they’re all one dimensional players right now. At least one of them needs to step up and show they can contribute in more than one facet of the game.name me a worse PG in syracuse history then JC. He makes both we have a chance.
Yeah, you gotta put Freeman in there for Bell for a few more minutes. But Freeman has to get better on defense. We needed Davis and Lampkin's toughness inside, and Red thought Bell's threat from 3 was more important than having Donnie in. Donnie can rebound, but his defense wasn't really there tonight, IMO. Although Donnie was starting to get some offense going before he was pulled. I agree he should have gone back in for Bell, at least for a 4 minute shift.
Eddie is a monster. Love that kid.The 3 biggest positives to me:
1) JJ was playing on BOTH ends. Thought he was great all around
2) Davis showed he can rebound against a higher level of play
3) Freeman can score. We need to get him more shots
Eddie was a positive as well, but he did what I expect him to do.
Carlos was not on the floor during our comeback, Taylor was. Carlos came back in under 2 mins and turned the ball over on a huge out of bands play, lost his man on a switch which led to two points and missed a huge free throw which would have cut it to a one point game with 10 seconds left. Out of our 10 turnovers bell and Carlos had 40% of them. And if your acknowledging how awful Bell was than your acknowledging that despite this he played the whole second half while being awful while freeman who was playing his best game of his Syracuse career sat for the last 16 mins…LOL
Tell coach to tell Davis he makes every FT when he gets up on his toes. He misses every time he doesn’t. EVERY TIME!!!What could have been. My goodness. Horrible start. Turnovers. Missed FT and they were leading with 2 mins to go. I am not into “wake up calls” but I sure hope this loss makes these guys realize what they are capable of because they fought hard. But honestly make free throws.
It's beyond me that Taylor was pulled for Carlos at the end and that Donnie sat the second half given Bell had another terrible gameCarlos was not on the floor during our comeback, Taylor was. Carlos came back in under 2 mins and turned the ball over on a huge out of bands play, lost his man on a switch which led to two points and missed a huge free throw which would have cut it to a one point game with 10 seconds left. Isn't it obvious to Red that unless Donnie is in foul trouble he needs to be on the court. He is our most talented player and will only improve with more minutes. Bell is what he is a shooter. If he's making shots keep him in. If not he needs to sit.Bell played double the minutes that Freeman did, that's insanity.
Tonight is going to be ugly.We lost tonight and that obviously sucks.
But you could see a pretty deep team starting to come together.
There was more good than bad in Brooklyn.
We looked like we belong for the first time this year.
