The All Inclusive QB Room Discussion

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see this kid be the starter. GS is very one dimensional. This kid runs it if not as good as GS, it's very close, and from the film it is clear he is a better passer.

My gut feeling….. this kid is the best QB on our team next year.

GS is more slippery, faster.

DV throws a MUCH better ball. Combined with solid scrambling ability and a big body.

He may not start, but he may become the starter. I just have a feeling…

And I really am a huge fan of Shraders gutsy play, but I just am worried about his arm at this level.

Let the best man win. I trust Beck more then any other coach in evaluating who our starting QB will be. Whoever he chooses will speak volumes.

Those in the "bad pickup" camp seem to forget the end of last season. Shrader failed to reach 75 yards passing in 3 out of 4 last games. His deepest ball in those 4 games was 30 yards. Defenses adjusted to his lack of arm. You want to compete in the ACC? You need to be able to throw the ball, plain and simple.

In order for this team to reach their maximum potential, they must be able to throw to keep attention from Tucker. Even if V doesn't start, competition breeds success. This pickup was a must.

GS was banged up

I just want a wide-open quarterback competition in the spring with each player getting a shot. None of this "Shrader is the incumbent and we've got only so many reps to give out so he'll get half of them" stuff. Expect an exodus among those who don't get the job each year so they all need to get their shot.

Should have been that with Devito way earlier.

Who is saying this is a ..,,bad…., pickup?

GS was injured the last 3 games. That’s already been discussed. So his passing output those games was affected by that.

Having another competitor to start is a good thing, and having two guys who are extremely athletic in that competition is also a good thing. Think McNabb and Kevin Johnson.

Him being injured is all speculation. It was the narrative because he was so bad but nobody had any idea what his health situation was.

I don’t like it.

Sure the QB room looks full now. But now we have three RS-Fr QB’s in that room.

If you’re Morgan or Lamson and the new OC and QB coaches, whom you haven’t even met yet, decide to bring another QB with the same amount of eligibility you have. How would you feel?

The new coaches haven’t seen any of the three RS-Fr workout in person. They’ve probably seen practice film for all three guys and decided there’s a need for a third RS-Fr QB?

This could backfire terribly.

It’s one thing to get recruited over with a younger player (more eligibility), but bringing in a guy with similar eligibility doesn’t send a good message to the guys who are already here.

We thought we were short handed with only three scholarship QB’s, but by the end of spring (or sooner) we could only have two scholarship QB’s on the roster.
QB is obviously the toughest position to find playing time. Only 1 can play. Can't worry about hurt feelings. Load up the roster and let the chips fall where they may.

Ignore PhatOrange he has an agenda that Shrader can't pass, and keeps saying it. An intelligent person doesn't need to repeat something over and over.

Yeah my agenda is that I want a better passing quarterback boo-hoo

Thank you to all you guys with direct lines to the clubhouse 100s. Crying shame with the season on the line we’re trotting out a quarterback so hurt he can’t throw.

Might want to walk it back, moron.

Instead of doubling down on your stupidity.

Or at the very least, get your facts straight.

Everything I said is true. Things are so bad he had to play but they also ran him 69 times in the last 4 games.

I was being serious with the thank you, because the only person on the board I trust with info, let me know. nice juvenile name calling bravo.

Personally, I don't give a s*** what you believe or don't believe. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

What you seem to be missing, however, is that your narrative doesn't jibe with fact. And the fact that you're complaining about others having narratives, while perpetuating your own narrative, is unintentionally ironic.

I'll take whatever penalty the admins want to assign for the name calling, I'm just tired of these dopey takes you're expressing with regard to Shrader. If you pay attention to posters in this thread who have a terrific historical track record, you might notice that they're trying to course correct your incorrect conclusions. But you can only lead a horse to water.

No one cares what any of us think. You don’t care, I don’t care. The narrative isn’t anymore dopey than the incessant hammering on Buddy or Joe for their shortcomings, even when suffering from covid last year. Shrader had a 52.5% completion percentage with some horrific misses. Facts.

Edit: the second sentence in your last paragraph is why I said thank you.

He got injured against Virginia tech. Facts.

You claiming that it's a narrative, as confirmatory bias to support your own rationalized view is another narrative. Facts.

That I look forward to Garrett Shrader making you eat your words next year is just an opinion, admittedly. But I'll enjoy watching it happen. Fact.
