The all-inclusive Rutgers dumpster fire thread...

All I meant is that Buttgers has a lot more kids committed than the schools behind them. When the schools behind them fill out their classes (begin to recruit and grab commitments) then we will see where they rank. Like on NSD.

Number of Commitments (per rvls):

#1 Ohio State – 13

#2 Michigan – 14

#3 Northwestern – 15

#4 Maryland – 10

#5 Nebraska - 9

#6 Buttgers – 13

#7 Wisconsin – 10

#8 Iowa – 9

#9 Penn State – 8

#10 Michigan St – 9

#11 Illinois – 5

#12 Minnesota – 5

#13 Indiana – 4

#14 Purdue – 2

Let's see how many of those kids stick.

"Between a top-10 recruiting base, a lack of any meaningful in-state competition, a powerhouse conference, the biggest media market in the country, and a rabid, growing fanbase, Rutgers is poised to join the upper echelon of college football dynasties in the 2020s.

This has caused a fair share of angst throughout the Midwest. As Rutgers rises and traditional power programs fall (looking at you Nebraska), the football world has experienced some pretty serious cognitive dissonance. This can't be right they say. So hands are wrung, excuses are made, and facts are swept aside."

Every time some idiot claims Rutgers is dominating their in-state recruiting, this goes here.

But, but, Rutgers and Michigan have a budding rivalry!

So, apparently Schiano saw Sandusky engage with a child. Never went further than that. Schiano praised JoPa for years after that. Sickening. Fortunately, RU board fans have been rational and not very happy with Schiano.

...oh, sure, if you're going to limit the discussion to the top ten recruits, well then ...

(sarcasm off)

As of June 2015, Rutgers had recruited one top ten player from New Jersey in four years. That player, ironically named Nadir Barnwell, played a key role in getting his head coach fired when he and a number of teammates were arrested and exposed as thug criminals.

Rutgers football mailbag: What's wrong with N.J. recruiting?

...
Flood is in the midst of his fourth full recruiting cycle and he has landed just one top 10 Jersey prospect (Nadir Barnwell) during that time. It's difficult to imagine Rutgers closing the gap on the Big Ten powerhouses without New Jersey recruiting improving significantly.

Most comments posted recently here, including the one directly above, are about recruiting in 2015... Last year Michigan cleaned up in jersey... This year they may get one out of the top ten in state, but are not going to clean up as they did against a severely damaged Flood.

Ash has a number of top 25 in state verballed, and several more may join them, including Bolds and Hansard... A better chance with Bolds right now.

Yes, I know, a long way to signing day, and always the threat of de commits, as there would be for any program... Still, better to have a lot of in state verbals that help keep the group together... Reports are that the RU staff is in daily contact with all the verbals, a departure from what Flood did, where he would not stay on top of recruits.

Just so you know, the post above references the past 4 years, not just 2015.

I suspect the reason Michigan is not recruiting as well in NJ this year is because it is a weak class. They have landed higher rated players elsewhere.

Rutgers: almost winning a battle in a war they can't win.

I could say that Cuse is in a similar situation... It is a long distance between a Florida state, Clemson, and Syracuse right now... And your fans hope to slowly close the gap, as do RU fans against big 10 teams... That is what it is all about, being a fan and always hoping for improvement.
